๐ Celebrating 50 Years of NAIDOC Week! The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy ๐
This year, NAIDOC Week celebrates a monumental milestoneโ50 years of honouring the strength, culture, and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The 2025 theme, "The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy," is a powerful tribute to the achievements of the past and a hopeful look toward the future.
NAIDOC Week began as a movement for recognition and rights, driven by Indigenous communities envisioning a future of justice and equality. Today, it stands as a national celebration of culture, resilience, and leadership. ๐ค๐โค๏ธ
This yearโs theme highlights the strength of our young leaders, the vision of our communities, and the legacy of our ancestors. Itโs a call to honour the wisdom of our Elders and the groundwork laid by those who came before us, while empowering the next generation to lead with courage and respect.
As we celebrate this milestone, we also embrace self-determination and community-led vision, ensuring that NAIDOC remains a movement of integrity and unity. Together, we honour the past, celebrate the present, and look boldly toward the future.

๐ Celebrating 50 Years of NAIDOC Week! ๐
Did you know the NAIDOC Poster Competition has been celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander creativity and heritage since 1967? Over the decades, these posters have captured pivotal social changes and showcased the evolving artistry of First Nations communities. The competition has become an iconic feature of NAIDOC Week, inspiring pride and reflection year after year. ๐ค๐โค๏ธ
This year, Jeremy Morgan Worrall, a Ngarbal Gamilaraay artist, is the winner of the 2025 NAIDOC Poster Competition. Jeremyโs masterpiece celebrates the lines and ties of generations, drawing inspiration from his ancestors. It beautifully reflects the traditions, knowledge, and love that have been passed down over time. A place around the fire is where the next Generation finds their strength, vision and legacy.

๐ Celebrating 50 Years of NAIDOC Week! ๐
This NAIDOC Week, we gather in community to honour the enduring strength, vision, and legacy of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The 2025 theme, "The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy," is a call to reflect on the wisdom of our Elders and to invest in the future leaders rising among us.
Through culturally respectful programs, transformative access pathways, and individualised support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, Wirltu Yarlu and the University of Adelaide are helping create meaningful opportunities in higher education. By empowering students to soar higher, these efforts nurture the next generation to build on the foundation set by those who have come before, shaping their own journeys and strengthening the community for the future. ๐ค๐โค๏ธ
Let us celebrate this shared commitment and come together with pride and unity. Our collective actions today lay the groundwork for the leaders of tomorrow.
