South Australia’s ecosystem is continuing its strong momentum, with new data showing our state has climbed again in global rankings. 💡📈

As at 1 June 2026, Dealroom is tracking 939 South Australian startups - an increase of 25% in the last 3 years - and that growth is showing up in the global rankings too.

🌎In Dealroom’s Global Tech Ecosystem Index 2026, Adelaide is up 7 places since 2025, with the index l measuring performance based on investment, talent, innovation and startup outcomes.

🌎 Meanwhile, the StartupBlink Global Startup Ecosystem Index 2026 now ranks Adelaide 6th in Oceania and #202 globally, up 15 spots year-on-year. The report also shows our state's startup ecosystem grew by 37.8% in 2026, the second-highest growth rate in Australia.

Coastal waters in some parts of SA have been affected by an algal bloom.

To help keep communities informed, the South Australian Government is hosting a community forum at the Croatian Sporting Club in Port Lincoln, on Monday 1 June from 6pm.

Hear from government leaders and experts such as the Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development, Clare Scriven, and representatives from Department of Primary Industries and Regions and SA Health.

This forum is free and open to the public. Registration is essential due to venue capacity.

Strengthening innovation in global water partnerships 💧🌎

This month we were proud to host a high-level water delegation from India, supported by the Asian Development Bank, as part of the Madhya Pradesh Irrigation Efficiency Improvement Project study tour.

The visit brought together government leaders, industry experts and South Australian innovators in water tech to explore opportunities for future cross-border collaboration.

This exchange was a prime opportunity to spotlight South Australia’s position as a global leader in water innovation and management, and reinforces our commitment to building strong international partnerships that drive sustainable innovation outcomes and economic growth.

South Australia set to open trade and investment office 🌏🤝

Announced by Minister Chris Picton during this week’s business mission to Southeast Asia, the new office will be established later this year in the economic hub of Ho Chi Minh City.

Our state’s presence in Vietnam will support and opportunities for South Australian businesses in the region, spanning industries including food and beverage, renewable energy, education and tourism.

Southeast Asia was identified by the SA Government as a priority growth market in the SA Trade and Investment Strategy to 2030, with the new Vietnam office to join our network of existing offices in Singapore and Malaysia.

A round of applause for The Yoghurt Shop, announcing a tasty new distribution deal at THAIFEX. 🥣 😋

The South Australian artisan yoghurt company will have its products stocked in a range of 24/7 supermarkets across Bangkok following a 300% increase in sales year on year in the Thai market.

The companies are part of a delegation of local businesses supported by the SA Government and Food South Australia to showcase their premium products at Asia’s largest food and beverage trade show, attended by Minister Chris Picton as part of this week’s business mission to .

Members of our RAP Working Group were proud to attend the 2026 National Reconciliation Week Breakfast, with this year's theme 'All In' - a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day.
