One week on from the Heart of the Community Sport Volunteer Expo and Celebration 🧡

The event brought together volunteers, sporting organisations and students for a day of connection, recognition and learning. It was a great opportunity for students to hear firsthand about the many pathways available through volunteering in sport and recreation, while also recognising the volunteers who keep sport thriving across South Australia 🙌

Over three weekends, the city will welcome six pool matches, transforming the city into a vibrant hub of international rugby, with supporters from 10 nations bringing colour, energy and atmosphere 🌏

It’s set to be a standout moment on the sporting calendar.

A special initiative in the APY Lands 🧡

Over five days, our staff members Jodie and Verity delivered kits to all 13 softball teams in the SANFL Softball League across the APY Lands, including t-shirts, hats, drink bottles, period underwear and period products. The project, led through the Women in Sport Taskforce Inclusive Uniform Program, aims to help keep athletes active and participating week in, week out 🥎

The trip also marked the final year of a three-year program delivering equipment and support into the APY Lands community.

A huge thank you to Drakes for their support in helping source products for the project 👏

𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 (27 May – 3 June) marks a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

The theme for 2026 is 'All In' - a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day. All In makes clear that reconciliation is not a spectator sport and that all of us must step away from the sidelines and take action to make change.

The artwork for this campaign is by renowned Gumbaynggirr/Bundjalung artist Otis Hope Carey.

A day to acknowledge the historical mistreatment and strength of Stolen Generations survivors and reflect on how we can all play a part in the healing process for our Aboriginal and Torres Islander families, communities, and peoples.

The future of sport volunteering is looking bright 😎

The Heart of the Community Sport Volunteer Expo connected high school, tertiary and international students, to the many volunteering opportunities available across South Australian sport and recreation.

The day then rolled into our Sport Volunteer Celebration, recognising the incredible volunteers at the heart of our clubs and communities, with attendees hearing from a special panel of speakers sharing their stories and experiences 🧡

From discovering new pathways to celebrating the people already making a difference, it was a powerful reminder of the impact sport volunteers have every day.
