The draft engineering design standard specifies requirements for:
👉 road and pavement design
👉 stormwater design
👉 stormwater quality
👉 earthworks
👉 service infrastructure
👉 street landscaping, including trees.
Changes to the general planning regulations and mandatory conditions are also proposed.

The Seaton Code Amendment has now been finalised! The amendment rezones approximately 39 hectares of land in Seaton, unlocking opportunities for diverse, medium-to-high density housing.
The rezoning supports delivering about 1,450 new homes in line with Renewal SA’s urban renewal project and:
✔️ enables a variety of housing types, including townhouses and apartments
✔️ allows for taller buildings, increasing the density in a well-connected area.

The Smithfield Regeneration Code Amendment has now been finalised! The amendment rezones land to deliver more homes in this prime location between the existing railway line and shopping centre.
The code amendment includes:
📍 the former Smithfield barracks
📍 the Smithfield and Broadmeadows train stations
📍 Munno Para Shopping City complex
📍 existing residential areas located to the north and south
📍 several nearby reserves, gardens and ovals.
The 33.5-hectare barracks site alone is expected to provide between 1,500 and 3,000 new homes.

This is the second stage of consultation, following a comprehensive review of the initial draft engineering design standard, technical manual and standard drawings released for consultation in May 2025.
