National Volunteer Week may be over, but the impact of palliative care volunteers continues every day.
Palliative care volunteering is about connection, compassion, and helping people feel supported during some of life's most important moments.
There are many ways to get involved, including:
โก๏ธ Companion Volunteers provide presence, conversation, and gentle support to people receiving palliative care, whether in a hospice, care facility, at home, or in the community. Sometimes, a simple chat or shared moment can bring comfort, connection, and reassurance.
โก๏ธ Biography Volunteers help people record their stories, memories, reflections, and life experiences. These treasured keepsakes can become a lasting gift for families and loved ones, preserving what matters most.
Every role contributes to improving the quality of life of people receiving palliative care, as well as supporting their families and carers.
Whether you enjoy spending time with people, listening to stories, or helping preserve important memories, there may be a palliative care volunteer role that's right for you.

At the first-ever Australian Volunteer of the Year Ceremony in Canberra, we are incredibly proud to celebrate two inspiring volunteer leaders recognised during National Volunteer Week.
