The City of Adelaide supports National Reconciliation Week, 27 May to 3 June, commemorating the successful Referendum amending the constitution on May 27 1967, and the High Court Mabo decision on June 3 1992.

The NRW 2026 theme, "All In", calls on all Australians from all walks of life to commit to reconciliation each and every day to make change, encouraging all of us to unite for progress in advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' rights. This year's artwork, pictured in the above tile, is by Gumbaynggirr/Bundjalung artist Otis Hope Carey. If you would like to learn more about Reconciliation Week or the artist head to the link below: www.reconciliation.org.au

Our libraries are proud of our diverse Aboriginal Cultures Collection established in partnership with Kaurna community representatives. This collection is a dedicated space that celebrates the significant contributions of Aboriginal authors and Aboriginal people by sharing their stories alongside our general collections. It offers a wide range of materials suitable for adults, teenagers, and children for borrowing at Hutt Street Library and City Library: https://shorturl.at/rISnX

✨🎊 Our final volunteer that we're highlighting this National Volunteer Week is the fantastic Elenora who works in our LEGO Clubs ✨🎊

When asked about their volunteering role at the libraries, Elenora stated that 'volunteering at the LEGO club lets me give back through something I love. It’s a fun and creative place that has given me the chance to meet and work with new people while making a positive difference.'

Thank you to Elenora for sharing her experiences with our libraries and to all of our volunteers for their amazing work they do for our communities every single day of the year 🥰 Happy National Volunteer Week 🎉

🎉❤🎊 Happy National Volunteer's Week 🎉❤🎊

Running from this Monday the 18th to Sunday 24th June, National Volunteer Week recognises the contribution of millions of volunteers across the country and invites everyone to discover how giving their time and talents can create connection, purpose, and stronger communities. The 2026 theme of ‘Your Year to Volunteer’ speaks to our wonderful library volunteers who bring our spaces to life and foster social ties and inclusion 🥰 This week we'll be hearing from some of our volunteer's across our socials to shine a light on the amazing contributions to both the city and library communities; we couldn't do what we do without them!!

Meet Anna, one of our Library Shelving Assistants, who says 'As a lifelong lover of books, I feel very lucky to be in a position where I can contribute to my Library community on a weekly basis. The staff are always so welcoming and keen for conversations about books!'

Special thanks to Anna for shining a light on what she loves about volunteering with the library and a big thank you to all of the volunteers across our library centres ✨
