A real house should provide shelter, security, and privacy, and support its occupants’ well-being and relationships in safe and intimate spaces. Over time, such a house and its contents become a historical record of the individuals who lived there. The style of the house, the interior furniture, the memorabilia on the walls, even the trees in the garden all illustrate what family life was like.
