On Saturday, 21 February, the 2026 Chinatown Adelaide Lunar New Year Street Party brought thousands of people into the heart of Chinatown to welcome the Year of the Horse and celebrate one of the most anticipated cultural occasions of the year.

We were honoured to be joined by distinguished guests, government representatives and community leaders, who came together with our community to celebrate the Year of the Horse and the spirit of Lunar New Year.
Against the vibrant backdrop of Moonta Street and Gouger Street, our guests joined the community in experiencing the traditions, colour and energy of Lunar New Year.

From the official ceremony and special presentations to conversations and shared moments throughout the celebration, it was wonderful to see leaders and communities coming together to celebrate the cultural diversity that makes South Australia so special. ❤️

During the 2026 Chinatown Adelaide Lunar New Year Street Party, Moonta Street and Gouger Street became a bustling open-air celebration filled with incredible aromas, flavours, culture and festive energy.

With 80+ food and cultural stalls, you could discover something new around every corner. 🥢

From sizzling street food and Lunar New Year favourites to sweet treats, cultural displays and unique finds, the streets offered a taste of the diversity that makes Chinatown Adelaide and our wider community so special.

But the best part was seeing the streets full of people.

Families explored together, friends shared dishes, visitors discovered new flavours, and thousands of people supported the stallholders, traders and businesses who helped create the atmosphere of the day. ❤️

Behind every stall was a team that prepared, cooked, set up, and served throughout a huge day.

From afternoon into the evening, the 2026 Chinatown Adelaide Lunar New Year Street Party transformed the heart of Chinatown into a vibrant celebration of culture and performance.

The streets came alive with the unmistakable sounds of Lunar New Year as drums echoed through the crowds, lions brought excitement and good fortune, and spectacular dragon performances captured the attention of festival-goers young and old. 🐉🦁

On stage, an incredible program of live performances brought together traditions, music, dance, and cultures from across our diverse community.

Each performance told its own story — and together they showcased the multicultural spirit that makes this celebration so special.

👏 To every performer who stepped onto the stage or brought their performance into the streets: thank you for sharing your talent, culture and passion with us.

Dear Friends and Community Partners,

We are delighted to announce that the 2027 Chinatown Adelaide Lunar New Year Street Party will take place on:
📅 Saturday, 13 February 2027
📍 Victoria Square / Tarntanyangga, Adelaide

This major South Australian multicultural celebration will once again bring together communities, performers, stallholders and businesses to welcome the 2027 Chinese New Year – the Year of the Goat through culture, food, music and entertainment. ✨

Due to the Gouger Street Revitalisation works, the 2027 Street Party will temporarily relocate from the Chinatown and Gouger Street precinct to Victoria Square / Tarntanyangga, one of Adelaide’s most prominent civic spaces, while maintaining its strong connection to Chinatown.

Guests can look forward to cultural performances, lion and dragon dances, food and market stalls, family activities and live entertainment throughout the day and into the evening. 🦁🏮

👉 Sponsorship opportunities, stallholder applications and performer applications will be announced soon.
