Much of Artlab's work takes place behind the scenes, and nowhere is that more evident than in the work of our Preventive team. Through careful monitoring, assessment, and ongoing collection care, they help protect and preserve cultural heritage, often in ways that are rarely seen by the public. We're grateful to the David Roche Gallery for featuring the team's work on the 'Saint Roch' statue in their latest newsletter and helping to shine a light on this important and often unseen aspect of conservation.

Artlab textile conservator Kristin Phillips ran a workshop the weekend before last called Hole Lot of Love at Fabrik: Arts and Heritage Lobethal. The 12 participants learnt about what causes damage to woollen garments and in particular which insects eat them and how to protect their garments from attack. Different ways to deal with an infestation were also discussed. They the learnt to love and embrace holes and various methods on how to darn and fix them were practiced.
