Taikurrendi brings together care, education, health, community development activities and family services for families and children from birth to eight.
Na Marni Meyunna. Welcome everyone. We would like to acknowledge this land on which we live and work as the traditional lands for the Kaurna people and that we respect their spiritual relationship with their country. We also acknowledge the Kaurna people as the custodians of the greater Adelaide Region and their cultural and heritage beliefs are still as important to the living Kaurna people to
day. Taikurrendi Children and Family Centre has been developed in partnership with DECD and the Federal government through the Indigenous Early Childhood Development National Partnership. It brings together education, health and family services. Our Centre has been open since early 2013. Our Centre, Taikurrendi has a strong committed focus on supporting Aboriginal families with young children to provide the best possible start in life. Taikurrendi [Tie – ka – rendi] comes from the local Aboriginal Kaurna language meaning ‘To be mixed, together’. Taikurrendi Children and Family Centre works together with Christies Beach Primary School to deliver education and support for the community. The Centre is open to all children and families and will provide targeted support when needed. Based in Christies Beach, children and families from surrounding areas access the Centre. Taikurrendi Children and Family Centre page is for people to find out more about the Centre, the services we offer, local information and discussions about important issues impacting children and their families. There is an expectation that users will be respectful of points of view, and refrain from offensive or inappropriate commentary. Taikurrendi’s page is maintained and moderated by staff from the Department of Education and Child Development. This page is monitored Monday-Friday 9-5pm and the page will not be monitored over the weekend or on public holidays. The Community Development Coordinator will regularly review content posted to the page and reserves the right to, at its discretion, block Facebook fans and remove content that in its view breaches Taikurrendi Children and Family Centre Facebook Guidelines. Taikurrendi’s Children and Family Centre policy requires that all people shall receive fair and equal opportunity and that people will not be discriminated against because of race, gender, age, sexuality, parental status, marital status, pregnancy, physical impairment or religious belief or activity.
