Even though we planned to have a shorter meeting (some members were keen to enjoy watching QLD win state of origin), we still had the honour of inducting a new member to Lions International. Welcome Lion Hugh, with Zone Chair Lion Warren as your mentor and Inductor. 🎉👏💕
Also, Lion Margaret's 8 years as a member of Lions International was acknowledged. Thank you for your Service Lion Margaret.

Tonight (Wednesday) we had the pleasure of inducting a new member to LIONS INTERNATIONAL.. Zone Chair/Membership Chair Lion Warren gave a brief outline of LIONS INTERNATIONAL, and asked the usual questions, where our new member happily said 'I Will'. Lion Dawn (sponsor) was very happy to introduce our new member, Mrs Kiranjit Singh. Kiranjit fortunately is already offering to contribute to our fortnightly dinner meeting, which no doubt our catering team will accept the offer.

Last Saturday, we held a High Tea, to raise funds for Ovarian Cancer Research (LMRF: Lions Medical Research Foundation). Support from the Townsville community was gratefully received - over 80 guests, many club workers, and PDG Lion Aussie Lanphier very kindly accepted the request to MC the afternoon, and share the work of our very own LMRF: Lions Medical Research Foundation. Lion Aussie has been passionately involved with the Foundation for many many years, so thank you Aussie for bringing us up to date.
Ovarian Cancer Research is encouraging women, aged up to 74 years, to participate in a study being conducted - [email protected] Some of our ladies have signed up - any information gathered is valuable in the research to develop early diagnosis and treatments.
Everyone enjoyed the delicious home made savoury dishes followed by the desserts, while getting those brains working, solving the mystery words and quizzes. Hope to see you all next year.

Today our Den provided the venue for the Celebration of Life of the late Lion Marilyn Speerstra, on behalf of her family, friends and members of the Lions Club of Mt Stuart. Many friends, family, long term acquaintances and the Lions community came along to share their memories, while enjoying a delicious spread, prepared by the Townsville Castle Hill Lions catering team.
Condolences to Lion Marilyn's family and fellow Lions.
