Have you visited the Albany Historical Society Art Exhibition at the Albany Convict Gaol?

This exhibition offers a rare opportunity to see more than 60 original artworks drawn from the Albany Historical Society archives, many of which have never been displayed publicly.

Spanning watercolours, sketches, illustrations, photographs, postcards and early settler depictions, the collection captures changing landscapes, everyday life and moments from Albany’s past.

One of the featured artists is Brenda Holland, whose work reflects local landscapes and portraiture with care and depth. A significant part of her practice is a series of portraits of Aboriginal sitters from Albany. Several of these works were donated to the Albany Historical Society and are currently on display.

I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life following the shark attack in Albany.

As a close-knit community, news of such a devastating incident is felt deeply across our city, and our thoughts are with the family, friends and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.

While no words can ease the grief that accompanies such a tragedy, I hope those affected can find strength and comfort in the support of family, friends and the wider community.

I extend my sincere condolences to everyone impacted by this heartbreaking loss and wish them strength in the times ahead.

The City is expanding opportunities for local artists to showcase their work through an exhibition program in partnership with Albany Entertainment Centre and Harry Riggs Albany Regional Airport.

Following a competitive Expression of Interest process, six exhibitions have been selected to transform public spaces at the airport and entertainment centre with works from talented local artists.

The initiative builds on the City’s established exhibition program at the Albany Town Hall and Vancouver Arts Centre, while responding to demand from the local arts community for exhibition spaces and opportunities.
