You won't have time to think it through when smoke is filling the hallway.

Walk through your home and find two ways out of every room. Pick a safe meeting place outside. Practise it with everyone you live with, kids included.

Plan it now, while it's still just a plan. Be fire safe this winter. fire.nsw.gov.au/befiresafe

Today is National Smoke Alarm Day and check your BLEEPING smoke alarm!

A working smoke alarm is your best early warning sign of a fire, giving you and your loved ones the chance to get out, stay out, and call Triple Zero (000).

A smoke alarm that doesn't work is just a plastic disc on the ceiling.

Test yours every month. If it doesn't beep, replace the battery. If it's older than 10 years, replace the alarm.

If you do not have one, our firefighters will install a long-life battery-powered smoke alarm as well as replace existing smoke alarm batteries all at no cost. Need help? Book a FREE Safety Visit at www.fire.nsw.gov.au/visits

Monday 1 June 2026 is Smoke Alarm Action Day, an annual, nationwide day of action supported and endorsed by emergency services from every state and territory that encourages people to test their smoke alarm.

We know that a working smoke alarm is the best early warning sign of a fire and cuts the risk of fire-related deaths in half, and yet last year, nearly half the homes damaged or destroyed by fire in NSW did not have a working smoke alarm. It’s time for the community to stop being complacent about their own safety and book a free home Safety Visit.

During your Safety Visit, we will attend your home and check that you have working smoke alarms, that they are in good working condition, and are installed in suitable areas. If you do not have one, firefighters will install a long-life battery-powered smoke alarm as well as replace existing smoke alarm batteries all at no cost. With your permission, firefighters will also ask you to show us around your home and property. This will allow us to give you personalised fire safety advice.

Wow, what a great start to the morning and thank you to all the members of the community who stopped by the station today especially the parents bringing their children to learn about fire safety.

We still have the BBQ going for a free sausage sandwich.
