At AlburyCity, we get it... sometimes we all need a moment to step away from work to switch off, get some sunshine and have an icecream.🍦
That’s why we host our ‘Lean-in’ get togethers so that Our People can switch off, meet new people, and look out for each other while enjoying some yummy food!
They’re so much fun! And not only are they good for our minds, but they also help us grow our professional relationships, build networks and collaborate towards meeting the needs of our community.

Commencing today, on International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (Friday 25 November 2022) and ending on the World Human Rights Day (Saturday 10 December 2022), the ‘16 Days of Activism’ campaign calls for the community to ‘Unite!’ for much-needed change in the fight against gender-based violence, particularly towards women and girls.

The NSW Police Force is supporting the campaign through proactive policing operations, with specialist officers also taking part in awareness-raising events.

The state-wide operation will implement a number of proactive strategies to disrupt and prevent recidivist offending and ensure the safety of victims. This includes Apprehended Domestic Violence Order compliance checks, proactive checks targeting known offenders and providing additional support to at-risk victims, with assistance from the Domestic Violence High Risk Offender Teams.

🟠 If you, or anyone you know has experienced, or is at risk of, family and domestic violence, contact your local police. In an emergency, call Triple Zero (000).

🟠 Support is available via the following helplines – Domestic Violence helpline 1800 65 64 63, 1800 RESPECT (1800 737 732) or MensLine Australia 1300 78 99 78.

Let’s keep our environment happy, healthy and looking tidy by REDucing our red bin waste. 🌏💚
Our recent bin audits showed that half of what we put into our red lidded bins could have been recycled in the yellow or green bins. 😮

The NSW SES advises people in the following area(s) NOT TO ENTER FLOODWATER due to current widespread moderate flooding:

Riverina Highway and surrounds

You should monitor the situation as it is constantly changing. Avoid floodwater for your safety.

What are we expecting?
Moderate flooding is occurring at Corowa and Tocumwal.

The Murray River at Yarrawonga Downstream fell below the minor flood level (6.40 metres) around 11:30 pm Wednesday. Further rises are possible.

The Riverina Highway and surrounding low-lying areas may be impacted by flooding.

This event may change quickly. We will monitor the situation and update our warnings if the situation changes.

What you need to do:

- If you have a Home and/or Business Emergency Plan, review it now. Otherwise, have a conversation and plan for what you will do and take with you if you need to evacuate.
- Consider the consequences of road and bridge closures and water over roads and make alternate arrangements for work, children, and travel.
- Plan your route carefully to avoid flooded roads and allow extra travel time.
- Obey all signs about road closures and instructions from emergency services.
- Avoid storm drains and pipes, ditches, ravines and rivers.
- Never drive, walk, ride through, play or swim in floodwater-it is dangerous, toxic, and may void your car insurance. If it's flooded, forget it. Fines apply.
- Share this information with family, friends, and neighbours and help others prepare where possible.
- Farmers should consider moving pumps and farm equipment to higher ground.
- People in areas likely to be impacted by flooding should raise their assets, including waste and chemical containers above expected flood heights.

For more information:
- Listen to your local ABC radio station which can be found at reception.abc.net.au.
- Follow us on social media or visit our website at www.ses.nsw.gov.au
- Learn about your risk at www.ses.nsw.gov.au/your-risk/
- Check latest weather, warnings, rainfall and river heights at bom.gov.au/nsw/
- Check road closures at livetraffic.com.au or 132 701 or your local Council.

For emergency help in floods and storms, call the NSW State Emergency Service on 132 500. In life threatening situations, call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
