Rules of Engagement

In joining our community on Facebook, Albury High School follows the Department of Education Code of Conduct and Facebook Terms and Conditions. Students
Facebook Terms and Conditions state no one under the age of 13 years should have a Facebook profile. Therefore, any comments or 'Likes' by primary students on the Albury High School page will be removed and if warranted users will be reported. Tagging or naming student photos
Photos of students are posted with reference to Department of Education publishing permission forms, completed on enrolment and other parent permission forms. For privacy and protection, please do not tag photos of children, and please do not name them in your comments. Tagging of parents or friends within the comment box is permitted with the understanding that all other rules of engagement are followed. Comments policy

Throughout this Term and Term 1 next year our Year 12 cohort will be selling zooper doopers for 1 dollar each at lunch and recess breaks.

This will be the primary fundraiser for their chosen charity - the local sunshine trust. The sunshine trust is a locally based charity that contributes to the local cancer centre, funding wellness centre programs, local cancer research, clinical trials, staff education, care and equipment. They also hold the sunshine walk every year, an event that encourages community and belonging - something that we too encourage within our school community!

This is Year 12’s way of giving back to the local community, and is just one fundraiser out of a lot more to come! So stay updated and it would be much appreciated if everyone in our school community could get involved!

Squirrel Glider Nest Box Monitoring:

On Wednesday the Elective Geography class worked with Lyn Ashford from the Woolshed Thurgoona Landcare group to undertake the bi-annual check of nest boxes to monitor Squirrel Glider numbers in the area. After some initial training, students rotated through the various roles of operating the pole camera, recording observations, and entering information into the database. We checked on a combination of glider and micro-bat boxes in the box woodland surrounding St John's Anglican church on Table Top Rd in Thurgoona. We were fortunate enough to experience the thrill of finding that two of the boxes had 2 or 3 furry tenants huddled together.

This is important work, as the information is collected statewide and is used to monitor threatened species and determine the next steps to implement conservation measures. Thanks to Mrs Ashford for sharing her time and expertise.

NSWCHS BASKETBALL KNOCKOUT: AHS’s 15s boys basketball team played in the NSWCHS state top 20 tournament at LJSC. They fought hard against Wollongong High School of Performing Arts and Inner Sydney High, and were unfortunately defeated in both games.

Previously, they have successfully won all games against Corowa, James Fallon, Murray and Tumut to get to this level of the competition. The boys continue to impress with their skill and teamwork.

TERM 4 ASSEMBLY – CELEBRATING LEADERSHIP, SPORTING SUCCESS AND STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT! 💙💛

Today, Albury High School held its Term 4 Assembly, celebrating student leadership, outstanding achievements and the success of our students on the state stage.

A highlight of the assembly was the introduction of our 2027 School Captains and Prefects, who will take on important leadership roles within our school community next year. We congratulate these students on their appointments and look forward to the positive contribution they will make to Albury High School.

We were also privileged to welcome back former Albury High School student and Olympian Patrick Scammell as our special guest. Pat shared his experiences as a student at AHS and his remarkable sporting journey, which saw him represent Australia at two Olympic Games and four Commonwealth Games. His reflections on his time at school, his progression through international athletics and the dedication required to compete at the highest level provided an inspiring message for our students.

Pat also had the honour of presenting our Under 15 Boys NSW AFL Knockout State Champions with their medals and championship trophy, recognising their outstanding achievement in winning the state title. It was a wonderful opportunity for our young athletes to receive their awards from someone who has represented Australia on the international sporting stage.

Our talented State Dance representatives were also acknowledged following their recent recognition in the NSW Parliament. Member for Albury, Mr Justin Clancy MP, highlighted their achievements in a parliamentary statement recorded in Hansard, providing a special recognition of their dedication, talent and contribution to the performing arts.

The assembly was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the diverse talents and achievements of our students, from leadership and sporting excellence to the creative and performing arts.

Congratulations to all students recognised today, and a special thank you to Patrick Scammell for returning to Albury High School and sharing his experiences with the next generation of students.

📚 2026 HSC EXAMINATIONS BEGIN! ✏️

Today marked an important milestone for our Year 12 students as the 2026 Higher School Certificate (HSC) written examinations officially commenced.

Our English Advanced and English Standard students completed their first examination paper, while students studying English Studies had the opportunity to sit their optional HSC examination.

There were plenty of relieved faces as students emerged from their first examination, happy to have the opening paper behind them and ready to tackle the challenges of the coming weeks.

The HSC examinations will continue at Albury High School until Thursday 5 November (Day 18), concluding with the Physics examination.

We wish all our Year 12 students the very best over the next few weeks. You have worked hard throughout your senior years, and now is your opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge, skills and understanding.

Remember to stay focused, look after yourselves and approach each examination with confidence.

RIOT Program: Our staff had the opportunity today during our Staff Development Day with Michael Hawton, a Registered psychologist, author, and educator with over 30 years of experience helping families and professionals build better relationships with children. His work with anxiety during this time has challenged how we deal with mental health in schools and how we work with students.

It was an incredible day for our staff and then tonight with our parents.

And be a big thank you to Northside Bakery and Spudside for the awesome catering! It was greatly appreciated on a day of amazing learning.

AUSTRALIAN WATER POLO SELECTIONS – AHS STUDENTS SHINE ON THE NATIONAL STAGE!

A huge congratulations to Toby and Liam, who have been selected in the Australian Under 18 Water Polo Development Squad following their outstanding performances at the Water Polo Australia National State Championships held during the school holidays.

A special mention goes to Toby, who captained the NSW team to victory in the Under 18 National Championships! This fantastic achievement continues what has been an incredible year of water polo for Toby, whose dedication, leadership and performances in the pool have been rewarded with national recognition.

Albury High School was also proudly represented by a number of talented students competing for NSW, Victoria and the ACT across different age divisions at the National State Championships.
