ALBURY HIGH TOOK OVER RETRO: On the evening of Friday 29th May, Albury High students 'took over' the Retro Cafe for a performance night. With over 100 people in attendance, this was the second year this event took place. A big congratulations to the students who performed as it is no easy feat getting up in front of an audience!

Big thank you to all the parents, friends and teachers who came to support our wonderful performers as well as Albury City Council and Ms McGuinness for organising the event.

SCHOOL PHOTOS DAY 2: A big two days of school photos wrapped up today, and what turned out to be a pretty challenging couple of days for our PDHPE classes, who unfortunately lost access to their indoor spaces due to the weather.

We'd like to extend a huge thank you to the MSP Photography team (Tess, Jarod and Kendra) for their professionalism, patience, and organisation throughout the process. School photo days are a significant undertaking, and their efforts ensured everything ran smoothly despite the challenges.

A special congratulations and thank you also goes to Mr Honeyman and Ms Burns for their outstanding preparation and coordination. The success of these days is a reflection of the many hours of planning and organisation that happen behind the scenes.

Well done to everyone involved for making the best of difficult conditions and ensuring another successful school photo event.

🏐 Super Netball Debut for Mia Lavis 🏐

Congratulations to Mia Lavis (Class of 2024), who made her Suncorp Super Netball debut this afternoon at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.

Representing the Melbourne Vixens in a top-of-the-table clash against the Adelaide Thunderbirds, Mia entered the court from the interchange to play at Goal Attack, becoming the first Albury High School graduate to compete at the highest level of netball in Australia.

While the Thunderbirds controlled much of the game and went on to record a 61–42 victory, the result does not diminish what is a remarkable milestone in Mia’s sporting journey. Making a Super Netball debut is an achievement reached by very few athletes and reflects years of dedication, hard work, and commitment to her sport.

Mia has enjoyed a distinguished representative career throughout her junior years, highlighted by her selection in Australian teams and her participation at the Junior Commonwealth Games, where she proudly represented her country on the international stage.

Everyone at Albury High School is incredibly proud of Mia’s achievement and looks forward to following her continued development at the elite level. We have no doubt this debut is just the beginning of an exciting chapter in her netball career.

Congratulations, Mia!

🏐 NSWCHS Netball Championships – Riverina Representatives 🏐

Congratulations to Layne and Ellie, who travelled to Port Macquarie last week to represent Riverina at the NSWCHS Netball Championships.

The NSWCHS Championships are a demanding full round-robin competition, with every team playing each other across the three days of games. This format requires players to spend significant time on court and consistently perform at a high level against some of the best school-aged netballers in the state.

The Riverina team recorded strong victories over North West, Western, and South Coast, finishing the tournament in 7th place overall.

Ellie was a key member of the attacking end, playing as a shooter, while Layne controlled play through the mid-court in the centre position. Both girls demonstrated outstanding skill, commitment, and sportsmanship throughout the championship.

Away from school sport, Ellie plays locally with the Lavington Panthers, while Layne represents the Brock-Burrum Saints, where both continue to develop their netball talents.

As Year 12 students, this marks their final appearance for Riverina, making their selection and contribution even more significant. We thank both girls for the dedication they have shown to school sport over many years and congratulate them on being exceptional representatives of Albury High School and the Riverina region.

Well done, Layne and Ellie!

NSW ALL SCHOOLS HOCKEY: Congratulations to Jasmine who represented NSW Combined High Schools at the NSW All Schools Championships in Newcastle on Friday.

CHS lost the first game 2 - 0 to CCC and their second game 3-2 to CIS. Jasmine played in defence for both games! The CHS team played well together, with Jasmine enjoying the experience and learning from the coach and other players on her team.

Jasmine recently represented Hockey ACT at the Under 16 national championships where the team finished third. So it has been an incredibly busy hockey season so far, and one it was great her parents have been able to enjoy in person!

Huge acknowledgement to Hockey Albury Wodonga, their local clubs and officials.
