🤝 Representatives from the Victorian Council of Churches Emergency Ministry (VCC EM) will be out and about in communities across Murrindindi, including Yarck, Terip Terip and Gobur, over the coming days.

🏡 VCC EM's trained outreach teams support people affected by emergencies and disasters.

💙 Working alongside councils and other recovery agencies, they visit residents in their homes to offer a listening ear, share information and help connect people with services and support that may assist their recovery journey.

🚧 Drainage Improvement Works – Oliver Street and View Street Intersection, Yea 🚧

Murrindindi Shire Council will be carrying out drainage improvement works at the intersection of Oliver Street and View Street in Yea from Tuesday 20 October 2026.

Works are expected to take approximately seven working days to complete, weather permitting.

To allow construction to proceed safely, a temporary road closure will be in place within the work area. During this time, access to properties will remain available from either end of Oliver Street and View Street.

Please take extra care when travelling near the site, as there will be large machinery and truck movements within the construction zone.

Emergency vehicle access will be maintained as required.

We thank residents and road users for their patience and understanding while these important drainage improvements are completed. 🚜👷‍♂️

🪵 Free firewood collection sites are nearing completion

The removal of hazardous trees along roads affected by the January 2026 bushfires is almost complete.

This means that the Koriella Free Firewood site will close at the end of October, while the Terip site will remain open until the end of November.

With around 800 kilometres of roadside inspected and treated, this has been a significant and complex program of work.

More than 8,000 cubic metres of firewood has been made available to the community, with over 3,000 permits issued. Thank you to everyone who has helped make the program a success.

The collection sites will now be progressively closed so they can be cleared and made safe for summer.
