💧 Flood Advice - MONITOR CONDITIONS - NORTH KIMBERLEY RIVERS 💧

Date of issue: 01:24 PM, 14 Mar 2026.

Please note the addition of Sandy Desert (eastern parts) catchment to this warning and changes to Flood details.

⚠️ There is no immediate danger but you need to keep up to date in case the situation changes.

❗ WHAT TO DO ❗

- Never walk, swim or play in floodwaters as they are dangerous.
- Prepare to move cars, equipment, livestock and pets early so they are not caught in floodwaters.
- Prepare an emergency kit including enough canned food and water to last for five to seven days, as well as clothing, important documents such as identification and insurance papers, medication, cash and an AM/FM radio that runs off batteries to listen to warnings.
- Fill your vehicle's fuel tank.
- Watch for changes in water levels so you are ready if you need to leave.
- Do not park or camp adjacent to rivers.
- Review your plan and make sure everyone in your household knows what to do. If you do not have a plan, make one now on Emergency WA emergency.wa.gov.au/plan or in the Emergency WA app.

If driving:
- Be careful at crossings and floodways as river levels may rise rapidly.
- Obey road closure signs and do not drive into water of unknown depth and current.
- Take care on gravel and unsealed roads as they may be slippery and muddy, and you could get bogged.
- Carry extra food and water when travelling in case of long delays at crossings.

💧 FLOOD DETAILS 💧

As at 11:58am Saturday 14 March 2026, the Bureau of Meteorology advised a tropical low over the Kimberley District is slowly moving towards the south west during Saturday and Sunday. A trough is forecast to deepen over south west Northern Territory during Sunday and Monday. Fed by humid tropical winds, these systems are expected to generate widespread rainfall, across the north and east Kimberley and Fitzroy catchments from Saturday, extending to parts of the eastern Interior during the weekend.

Catchments in the Flood Watch area are already wet and are likely to respond quickly to additional rainfall.

Forecast rainfall may cause river and creek level rises, prolonged overland flooding, and ponding from Saturday onwards. Road access may be affected, and some communities and homesteads may become isolated.

🚧 ROAD CLOSURES AND CONDITIONS 🚧

Some roads may be closed.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully. Road information may also be available from Main Roads WA by visiting the Main Roads Travel Map, calling 138 138 or by contacting your Local Government Authority.
