*Community Notice*
After many discussions and due to current Covid restrictions we have sadly had to postpone our annual community Christmas bbq and get together ☹️
This is only the 2nd time that we have to do this in the events history.
We are currently planning a post fire season community bbq and get together (pending any restrictions) some time in March.
We will make more announcements closer to the the time with dates etc.
We apologise to our community who look forward the this annual event and look forward to seeing everyone in the new year!!
As always, we are always contactable if you require any fire prevention or preparedness advice

Its heading into that time of year again folks.....
Lets all remain vigilant & work together to keep our community safe 👍👍

Spontaneous ignition is the leading cause of haystack fire in Victoria, and just one damp bale is enough to ignite a haystack.

There are a number of things you can do to minimise the likelihood of a haystack fire starting on your property, including:
✅ Make sure hay is well cured before bailing
✅Know the history of the hay you purchase
✅Keep haystacks to a limited size
✅Monitor moisture and temperature of your hay regularly
✅Watch for unusual odours - such as pipe to***co, caramel, burning or musty smells.

Keep your haystacks safe as the weather starts to warm ☀️

Happy Monday to all our Neighbours and friends around Allans Flat .
Well what a year we are having , I do hope you are all doing your best in these circumstances.
For us it’s pretty much business as usual , although some restrictions when it comes to training which we are balancing around .

Nice to see some sunshine although more rain predicted , and this means grass grows! Now is the time to clean up its helps us and protects you , please remember to register your burns on 1800 668 511 , just go through the prompts , it’s very easy, operators are friendly and appreciate the call and saves us getting a 000 call.

The past 2 fire seasons the crew of Allans Flat has actively been involved on the fire grounds, our tanker had fire damage from the Walwa fire but like the crew we have dusted it off, all repaired, rested and ready to help out wherever needed.

With the current situation we live in I can honestly can guarantee you this!!!

The crew at Allans Flat CFA are ready at a moments notice.

Be safe

CFA has received a number of calls from community members regarding bonfires to mark the ‘Spark in the Dark’ event this evening.

We appreciate those who are thanking our frontline workers, but urge you to keep fire safety front of mind.

As today’s conditions are windy in some areas we are urging those who wish to participate to not do so by lighting bonfires or using fire pits.

If you are choosing to light a candle, please ensure it is monitored by an adult and extinguished properly.

You might like to mark the event by using a torch or outside light.

Thank you and stay safe.

Good morning all .

Autumn is the best time of year on the Border in my opinion, and if you’re anything like me busy 24/7. 🙄.

As we start to think about collecting kindling and wood for the fire, think about these things...
Birds , Wasps, Bees, Possums and possibly more have enjoyed and partied in your chimneys over the warmer months but sadly it’s time for them to move on ..

Please ensure and make time to get your chimney cleaned, flue checked, fire wood not stacked against the house also.

Fires can start quite easily in chimneys and alike.

All the crew are available 24/7 at Allans Flat even in these crazy times ..

Happy Saturday
and it looks like being a beautiful Autumn day .
