Assistance With Pile Burn

Tonight our team attended a property in Mcleans Ridges to assist a property owner with a pile burn.

With summer coming up fast the cleaning up and clearing of properties is an essential first step in preventing fires. Tonight’s team was lead by our amazing Captain Liam who was assisted by our Deputy Captain Andrew and Advanced Firefighter Ali.

A huge thank you to the land owner Judy for taking the time to properly prepare the pile making assess and lighting a breeze and contacting RFS for help.

And a big thank you to the team!!

Phone and Money Located During Police Search Saturday 8 August 2026

The family of Patrick Liedke wishes to acknowledge the significant developments in today’s renewed search efforts in Piggabeen.

The renewed search was initiated following the
community’s discovery of Patrick’s wallet, identification and a trail of money on 3 July 2026, which led NSW Police to establish a coordinated multi‑agency operation across the Piggabeen and Cobaki bushland.

During today’s operation, search teams located a further item believed to be Patrick’s mobile phone, along with additional money. These items were found within the police‑defined search area and have been secured by NSW Police for forensic examination.

Today’s search required teams to navigate steep ridges, gullies and dense lantana, with volunteers and emergency service personnel working together in challenging and hazardous terrain.

The operation involved NSW Police, the Police Dog Squad, State Emergency Service (SES), Volunteer Rescue Association (VRA), Rural Fire Service (RFS), NSW Ambulance, and St John Ambulance, alongside family and dedicated community volunteers including Find our Lost Loved Ones FOLLO, Missing Person Search Network Queensland and Sun State Search.

NSW Police have now suspended their search operations. Despite this, Nicole and her volunteer search team will continue their independent community‑based search tomorrow, supported by volunteers who have stood beside her throughout the search effort. Their commitment continues to provide strength and hope to Patrick’s family.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to every volunteer, police and agency member involved in today’s efforts. Their dedication, compassion and resilience remain central to the ongoing search for Patrick.

Far North Coast Hydraulics Course 2026

The Hydraulic Course held at Main Arm Last Sunday was supported by the Ballina Catering Trailer.

We are officially rolling! The purpose-built catering trailer- engineered from the ground up to bring culinary experiences, either at courses, training days or in the field. Our mission, Hydrate and Refuel our front line teams.

Northern Rivers 2026 District Exercise

Over the weekend Northern Rivers Command held a training weekend for the RFS brigades. An amazing weekend where members got to work with multiple brigades and appliances.

the training drills and tutorials held included;

2 scenarios and 2 workshops
1. Motor vehicle acident with patient care, first aid and car fire
2. Relay pumping exercise
3. Aviation workshop
4. Fire ground management workshop

Way to go team!!! No better was to learn than collaborating with others!

Introducing Pam and David who helped Ged and Denise with the Catering for the TFT course on both Saturday and Sunday at Alstonville. Catering is a very important role, keeping everyone fueled up for the job ahead. We welcome more hands on deck, it is a great way to meet new friends and have fun.

Behind every course, every strike team and every meeting there are these local legends making sure that our firefighters are fed and have a cup of tea in there hand by the end of the day.

Community Engagement:

As winter and the cold air starts to roll in so did the annual Rous Bonfire Night!

One of our favourite events to attend, our members joined the Alstonville community in lighting the Rous Bonfire.

A great night for both the kids and adults!
Lots of fun with tours of our trucks, questions about volunteering, firefighting operations and how to be prepared in the case of a fire.

Thank you to our wonderful volunteers and our amazing community. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!
