Where did the $9m collected by the State Government from our community for their Emergency Services Volunteer Fund go? You'll notice this additional charge on your annual Council Rates notice. They make Councils collect it on their behalf, but I've never seen a reconciliation of where that money goes. Another $9m will be collected this year. The SES do a damn good job and deserve respect 👏🏼

A friend just sent me this… honestly, what is happening in Victoria right now. School kids on the Williamstown-Altona run this morning got the full “world‑class public transport” experience, featuring what appears to be a portable pothole.

I have several questions, none of them comforting:
- Is this pothole on tour?
- Were Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock driving?
- What exactly happens if you dip under 50km?

They say an image says 1000 words. This one says a lot about Victoria right now. Please get it together.

Just made a batch of homemade beef & pork cevapi with ajvar, and… it’s the most honest thing I’ve experienced all day.

In news, the Premier announced that if Labor gets re-elected he’ll *cut land tax back down*… the same land tax they increased… and it’ll only take six years to get back to where it was before they broke it... 🫪
They create the problem, then campaign on slowly fixing the problem they created. 🤣

What's next, are they going to promise to build the airport rail again? Oh wait, they did…again… 🥴

Anyway, I’m eating cevapi. The politicians can keep their “solutions.” At least my plate is sorted. 😋

It’s an overview that pulls our local strategies into one place. But let’s be honest: the targets weren’t written by Council. They were imposed by governments above us.

Another 22,500 homes forced onto a city that currently has ~ 40,000. That’s a huge population jump.

So where do the new schools go?
Where are the hospitals?
Where are the extra police stations?
And how much extra funding has the state government actually committed to deliver any of it? … None…

I supported the document because it’s simply an information booklet put together by Council.
But accepting explosive housing targets pushed down from the top — targets that will drive major population growth, with zero infrastructure funding, and no plan for schools, hospitals or police stations — is another thing entirely.

Oh look, the State Government has decided democracy is just too slow and inconvenient when it comes to cramming more density into our suburbs... Up to 4 homes on a single block, rubber-stamped in 10 business days 😲
❌ No advertising to neighbours.
❌ No right of appeal to VCAT.
❌ Reduced parking requirements.
❌ And those upper-level windows? Apparently we don’t need screening or frosting anymore…Privacy is so last decade...

Local councils stripped of control, communities locked out of the process, all so they can push more housing through without actually listening to the people who already live here.

They call it efficiency. The rest of us call it steamrolling... 🚛

Thanks for the heads-up, Hobsons Bay. At least someone’s still telling us what’s being done to us.
