Thank you, David Limbrick MP - Libertarian for moving to restore free speech in our councils in Parliament earlier this week, and for the shout out ๐๐ผ You are correct, I have had to defend my right to simply have an opinion on more than one occasion.
While Parliamentarians enjoy full freedom of speech, protected by privilege, Councillors in Local Government can face sanctions and lengthy, expensive arbitration, all billed back to ratepayersโฆ
In a democracy, challenging ideas and sharing different views should not be controversial. Enough with the censorship.

In response to my questions taken on notice, raised at the 24 March 2026 council meeting, I have been provided with the following:

The total cost for mandatory Councillor professional development (including Induction and Mayoral/Deputy Mayoral training) for the period 20 November 2024 to 31 March 2026 is $73,109.35.

Municipal monitor John Tanner commenced on 2 June 2025, and Rebecca McKenzie commenced on 1 January 2026.
The total cost includes reasonable out-of-pocket expenses, on-costs, and superannuation.โ

Been reading lots about the UK council elections, interesting reading... Putting a cheeky tenner on Keir Starmer being replaced before Christmas at Sportsbet's 1.17. Mate, if the odds are that short the bookies basically think he's a goner too. ๐จ Not that I'm endorsing gambling or anything. But hey, when your state government signs a 40-year deal with the lottery corporation for a $1.145 billion upfront sugar hit, done behind closed doors with zero public tender, suddenly the lectures about 'problem gambling' go very quiet... The same crowd that clutches pearls over a cheeky punt is balancing the budget on punters' losses... So yeahโฆ Starmer by December it is. Who's in? ๐ฟ"
