Truganina Explosives Reserve

Please note that Truganina Explosives Reserve will not be open during the month of April due to Easter. The Reserve will be open as usual on the first Sunday of May. Thank you.

Lots to enjoy at the Explosives Reserve for the next three weekends. Check out contemporary art in the heritage and conservation setting that gives a nod to the Agnes Denes Forest for Australia at the Altona Treatment Plant up the road.

Picnic on the lawn, bush ballads and jigs from the Glenrowan Bush Band and a game of Finska (we’ll show you how)… don’t just imagine what’s behind the fence, come to Truganina Explosives Reserve on Sunday (1-4 pm) and ‘Linger Longer’!

Every Tuesday volunteers from the Men’s Shed gardening group take care of Truganina Explosives Reserve so it always looks great for open days on the first Sunday of each month - getting ready for our Linger Longer event on 5th October. Fingers crossed for good picnic weather!

We don’t quite have the picnic weather we anticipated but Truganina Explosives Reserve will still be open this afternoon with volunteers on site. Threatening winds will likely preclude tours in the conservation area but the restored houses are a delightful sanctuary, and we have tea and biscuits to offer!
