I am trying to find a photo of this area when we first bought the property back in 2012. But for now, this comparison is big enough!
This whole area was thick with wattle tree suckers and Sifton bush when we purchased the property. Sifton bush in particular is very very difficult to get rid of. Nothing eats it, not even goats. And it spreads like wildfire.
We have persisted with regnerative farming practices (with no chemicals being put into the soil where possible) because of a determination to see what happens. It is a long process. We are lucky we donโt rely on our farm for an income yet, so we have the luxury of time at the moment. Although, there have been many conversations about what the hell are we doing.
The absolute joy we have when we see this area as it is today makes all the hard work worth it. We have a mix of native grasses that have come up without us having to crop anything. Now we just need to figure out what they all are and hopefully at least some of them are nutritious to our animals and not just the wallabies ๐
It has been a good year for rain too, so that helps!
There is still so much to learn.

Seriously the CUTEST little kid!
We found our Alpaca babysitting it this afternoon as the mother has left it.
We have managed to reunite them and the kid is drinking well and the mother is nurturing it.

If there is one positive to come out of this strange time, it is that we are able to trial lots of things to help support Ryleyโs transition out of school.
Today, David and Ryley went and did a range of farm jobs.
We have a number of things starting to take shape and look forward to sharing more soon!

We have had oodles of mulberries this year. We have feasted on them, given them away, allowed the turkeys and chickens to have some and still the tree keeps fruiting!! Who else loves mulberries? ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ

Learnt how to drive this proud old tractor today. Slashed our small paddocks and tried to get rid of the ever annoying Sifton bush. Could happily drive a tractor all day ๐
