Bardenas Reales in Spain is the largest desert in Europe and is something out of this world 🤩

I noticed the Milky Way lined up over this iconic bend in the Great Ocean Road. Thought I’d take a midnight adventure to photograph it.
Thanks to the late night drives for making the shot 🙌

I’ve had this image in mind for a number of years but you need a number of elements to align to get the shot.
Tide, swell, rising Milkyway and a clear night all need to happen at the same time. Then there’s the spooky element 🤣
It’s a little unnerving out there on Point Roadknight at 2am. 😳

So I’m here in Canada for a month and I noticed the lunar eclipse was happening. I searched everywhere for a composition that had majestic snow capped mountains but the logistics of moving around in freezing temperatures at 3am were just too hard.
Then I found this abandoned coffee van with an open sky background AND it all lined up with the eclipse.
So at 1am I ventured out (hoping the bears were still hibernating) and shot the foreground then waited. Darn it was cold!!!!!!
Anyway about 2.00am the clouds rolled in and ruined my plans 😢 And it started snowing so back I trudged to my toasty warm bed.
Anyway this morning I went back to a previous eclipse and put this image together exactly as I had it planned.
Next time perhaps 😁🤙🤣

Yes I feel lucky to call this island my home 🤩

I jumped out of bed thinking it was going to be an all time great sunrise but after this early glow it fizzed out.

Still good to be out and about to stat a new day 😁
