I just reported a fake profile in the name of Joy Obrien (as opposed to Joy OBrien). The fake has various deficiencies and shows her profile picture with clouds and other shapes superimposed. Beware!

My association with Manning Primary School as Member for South Metropolitan Region goes back to the 1990s. At the end of year Presentation Ceremony on Tuesday 15th December 2020 I reflected on how the Year 7s from my first contact would have gone on to be parents whose children in some cases had themselves completed school. I played my customary role in presenting the Endeavour Awards (ten in all) to the students from each classroom who had made a conspicuous contribution to their group.
The highlight of this occasion was undoubtedly when a mum from the school made it known that she had been the Yr 7 MC who had called me to the stage in 2001!
This happy circumstance was a wonderful conclusion to my long official association with a fine school - thank you to the Manning Primary School community and may you continue to thrive in the future.

The BP Refinery in Kwinana is vital part of Australia's energy security. It has been for 65 years. Hundreds of skilled Western Australians work there but those families face uncertainty over the future of the refinery. Millions of Australians face uncertainty over the future of domestic fuel production - and that should not be acceptable to any of us. I am pursuing this issue as I told the Western Australian Parliament this week - 4 November 2020

Guide dogs in Training were special guests at Parliament House Tuesday 13th October 2020. Members were urged to take photos with the dogs - and there were plenty of enthusiastic participants! The important message of the occasion was raising awareness of the need for dogs to be bred and raised locally.

City of Canning Australia Day celebrations 2020 were on the Shelley foreshore - a beautiful spot to come together for such an occasion. A great honour to be a part of it.

Truly a great achievement of Western Australian craftsmanship - the awesome Duyfken replica. This is a unique living example of late 16th Century maritime technology. Dr Tony Buti MLA and I are setting up a Parliamentary Friendship Group to promote awareness of Duyfken and its place in our history. More on Duyfken soon!
