A huge thank you to everyone who attended this yearโs Plants for Residents Program ๐๐ฑ
It was fantastic to see so many residents collecting native and waterwise plants to help create greener, cooler gardens across our community.
Since the program began in 2017, more than 35,000 plants and seedlings have now been distributed to local households.
This initiative is proudly co-funded by Water Corporationโs Waterwise Greening Scheme and supports our ambition for Armadale to be a leading waterwise city.
Happy planting!

Council decisions from last weekโs meeting ๐
๐ฃ Proposed rates to be advertised for community feedback
Council endorsed advertising the proposed 2026/27 differential rates and Statement of Rating Objects and Reasons for public comment. The proposal is based on a balanced budget and a proposed 4.8% increase, with community submissions open from 27 May to 18 June ahead of final consideration by Council in June.
๐ฟ Roleybushcare community engagement
Council endorsed a community engagement plan for the proposed Roleybushcare storage facility at Lina Hart Memorial Reserve. This will help guide consultation with nearby residents, stakeholders and the wider community on the proposed concept and location before any future consideration by Council.
๐งญ Visitor Centre model to change
Council supported transitioning the Perth Hills Armadale Visitor Centre to a free baseline participation model for local tourism businesses. The change aims to make participation more accessible and allow promotion to focus on visitor interest, seasonal opportunities and destination experiences.

This exciting new space will bring together Banksia Summit Park and Cockatoo Creek Park, creating a vibrant destination filled with nature play, water play, youth activity spaces, recreation opportunities, greener landscapes and places for our community to connect.
A huge thank you to Lotterywest, the Australian Government and the WA Government through METRONET for helping make this project possible, and to everyone in our community who helped shape the vision along the way.

National Reconciliation Week (27 May โ 3 June) is a time for all Australians to come together and reflect on how we can support reconciliation in our everyday lives.
This yearโs theme, โAll In,โ is a call for everyone to play a part. Meaningful change comes from shared commitment, itโs something we all contribute to, together.
As part of the Cityโs ongoing commitment to building strong and respectful relationships with the local Aboriginal community, weโve begun developing our own Reconciliation Strategy. This work is being guided by a dedicated working group of Councillors, Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal staff, and community members.
Weโre also engaging with Aboriginal Elders and a Community Reference Group to ensure the actions we take are meaningful, locally relevant, and create lasting impact.
