⭕ Most women diagnosed with breast cancer are over 50 years old.

The NSW Government has extended funding for the No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS), helping households across NSW access support when they need it most.

NILS provides safe, fair loans with no interest, fees or charges for essential goods and services.

You can borrow:
✅ up to $2,000 for essentials such as fridges, beds, medical costs or car repairs
✅ up to $3,000 for housing needs including bond, rent in advance or disaster recovery.

More than $18 million in loans were delivered last year, with 89% already repaid, highlighting the strength of this community-based program.

You may be eligible if you:

• are on a low income
• receive a pension
• have experienced domestic or family violence in the past 10 years
• support a family earning up to $100,000 a year
• are single and earning up to $70,000 a year.

NILS is available through 56 providers across NSW.

❓ Who has NILs helped? ❓

Denise found out the hard way about pay day lenders:

“Well at first, I got payday loans. A payday loan is never a good idea. I got stuck. There were hidden fees and costs. The interest was phenomenal. I felt really really trapped.”

Denise has used NILs on 7 separate occasions. NILs has helped her buy – a fridge, a washing machine, with repairs to her home and helped with her medical expenses. Since being diagnosed with MS, Denise lost her driving licence and a big part of her independence. Recently, she received approval for a NILs loan to help her buy an electric bike: “As a disabled pensioner and losing my license, it’s been so hard to get around. Getting my electric bike through a NILs loan has not only helped me to get from A to B but given me my sense of normalcy back. NILs honestly gave me my freedom back.”

💲 You may be eligible for a No-Interest Loan! 💲

❓ We have seen some misconceptions floating around about the NILS eligibility criteria, and we wish to clear it up for you!

✍️ The NILs program is designed for people who need support and you may be eligible if you meet at least one of the following criteria:

- You have a Health Care or Pension Card
- Earning less than $70,000 before tax as a single person.
- Earning less than $100,000 with a partner or dependents.
- You have experienced family or domestic violence in the last 10 years.

The Armidale Neighbourhood Centre is an approved provider of the NILS program within NSW, though there are many scammers impersonating approved providers using fake websites, social media profiles, and ads.

🛑Watch out for scammers who may:🛑

🔸Contact you on social media
🔸Ask for myGov sign-in and password
🔸Ask for Banking details, including sign-in and password
🔸Ask for Identity documents like Medicare card details or Centrelink Customer Reference Number
🔸Ask for you to download software
🔸Ask for you to transfer money
🔸Ask you to set up a bank account with a specific provider to have money transferred.

Good Shepherd and the Armidale Neighbourhood Centre will never ask you for your myGov sign-in, bank details, or use social media to contact you or process a loan application.

🚫If you think you have been scammed:

⛔Stop all contact with the suspected scammer
⛔Block and report the scammer account on social media
⛔Report a scam to authorities
⛔Contact your bank or card provider as soon as possible
⛔Change your account passwords.

🚗 Vehicle-related expenses (Registration, repairs, CTP insurance),
🏠 Whitegoods (Fridges, washing machines, dryers, etc.),
🛏️ Furniture (Beds, lounge sets, tables, etc.),
💻 Technology (for education and employment), and
🦻 Health and Wellbeing (Dental, medical, mobility aids, vision care, surgery, etc.).
