๐Ÿš’ Firefighters Remembrance Day โ€“ 10 October

Tomorrow at 10am on the 10th day of the 10th month, we pause to honour the 60 firefighters who have lost their lives protecting Queensland communities since 1877.

We remember their courage, sacrifice and dedication, and extend our heartfelt thoughts to the families and colleagues they have left behind.

Wherever you are tomorrow, please take a moment to pause and reflect on the bravery and sacrifices of our firefighters and their families.

Is it time to earn some gold stars โ“

No weekend plans? Why not earn some gold stars and do some maintenance jobs around your home? โญ

When disasters strike, you may have little or no time to prepare. Knowing the risks for your local area and being prepared is the best thing you can do to protect your home and property.

A few things you can do this weekend that would make a big difference during a disaster include:

๐Ÿ‚ Clear leaves and debris from gutters, downpipes, and drains so water can flow away freely.

๐ŸŒฑ Mow grass and remove the cuttings to reduce fuel loads and possible fire intensity near your home.

๐Ÿชพ Cut back tree branches that hang over your roof or near power lines.

๐Ÿ’จ Tie down heavy outdoor items like trampolines, furniture, and barbecues.

๐Ÿก Check that your windows and doors seal properly and get any broken windows repaired.

๐Ÿšฟ Learn how to safely turn off your homeโ€™s power, water, and gas to prevent damage to yourself and your property during severe weather.

๐Ÿšจ Disaster Ready Saturday โ€“ Sarina! ๐Ÿšจ

A great day with Emergency and Essential Services well represented, sharing information and helping our community be prepared should disaster strike.

A big thank you to Mackay Regional Council for putting on this important event. ๐Ÿ‘

And of course, the Grasstree Beach Rural Fire Service fire truck was a big hit, with plenty of visitors stopping for a photo with the truck and Bushy, our mascot cut-out! ๐Ÿธ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ“ธ
