We are a community centre located opposite Alamein Railway Station.
Alamein is a community house offering English, computer, employment & wellbeing courses +men's shed, a community garden, a strong volunteer program and a CHSP group. We offer courses in work preparation, computers, healthy lifestyles, English, Literacy and Numeracy, horticulture and many more. Ashwood, Ashburton & Chadstone Public Tenants Group have their next meeting this Wednesday (20th May) from 1pm. All public tenants in the area are welcome to join this meeting, which will be held at Markham Pavilion. Alamein will also speak at this meeting about an event for Markham Estate residents (supporting residents to get their concession rebate on their electricity and hot water bills. Check out the flier in the comments.) We hope to see many of our local social housing residents there :-)

Do you know someone struggling with reading, writing, speaking or understanding English in daily life? Our Literacy for Practical Purposes course is designed to help people gain the skills and confidence for real-world situations.
This supportive, hands-on course focuses on practical English used in everyday life in Australia—whether it’s reading forms, having conversations, understanding information, or preparing for work. Adults learn in a friendly environment where everyone is encouraged to build skills at their own pace.
What people learn:

On this chilly day, our term 2 Fixing Things course started. It was nice and toasty in the craft room as students learnt about drills and how to use them. The course had a waiting list this term, so if you'd like to join next term's course, give us a call on 98859401.
