🚗Please drive to conditions and keep off the roads if you can.

🚫Steer clear of flood waters. If you come across a flooded road, turn around and find an alternative route.

⛈️ ⚠️Wet weather warning - Be Prepared ⛈️⚠️

Wet weather and possible thunderstorms are expected to continue over the coming days and potentially into next week.

We’ve already responded to leaking roofs and there have been fallen trees in the area.

A timely reminder to:
🏡 clean your gutters and down pipes
🌳 trim overhanging trees and branches
💨 secure loose outdoor items that could be blown around in strong winds.

‼️never risk driving, walking or riding a bike through floodwater. Turn around and find an alternative route.

🛟 Huge congratulations to Paul, Tom and Irv, our newest In-Water and On-Water Flood Rescue Operators 🛟

Both courses are physically and mentally challenging, testing their endurance, resilience and teamwork to the limit.

The In-Water course provides them with advanced skills and knowledge required to undertake flood rescues in some of the most challenging situations.

We are incredibly proud of you all and the massive effort and commitment you have put into your training to achieve these results, with In-Water being the highest level of flood rescue qualification.

Ballina is incredibly fortunate to have dedicated, highly skilled and committed Flood Rescue operators who are prepared to put themselves forward to help protect and support communities when needed

A huge thank you also goes to our Flood Rescue operators, trainers and leaders who provide invaluable mentoring, guidance, encouragement and support to our volunteers.

Irv returns to Penrith this weekend to undertake the In-Water course, we wish him all the very best as he takes on the next stage of his training.

NSW SES Ballina extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the NSW Police Force officer who tragically lost their life on duty this morning.

Our thoughts are with our emergency services family and all those affected as they navigate this incredibly difficult time 🧡

It is with incredible sadness that we honour Constable Mia Lay, who tragically died in the line of duty at Redfern this morning.

We extend our deepest condolences to Constable Lay’s family, loved ones, colleagues and friends.

This is a solemn day for the NSW Police Force and we stand united.

🛟 JOINT FLOOD RESCUE TRAINING 🛟

Flood rescue technicians from NSW SES Ballina, NSW SES Lismore City Unit and NSW SES Kyogle Unit met today sharpening their skills at a joint professional development day.

Operators were faced with a range of dynamic scenarios replicating life like rescue environments. The session had a heavy focus casualty rescue from motor vehicles in flood water.

Great work to all members and staff involved.

NSW SES would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to Rous County Council for their support in making this training site and staff available. Another great example of agencies working together to strengthen our communities.
