Bannockburn CFA will be attending the Farmers Market tomorrow!

It is also the weekend of CFA’s Get Fire Ready where we like to talk about the importance of being prepared, staying informed and what you can do to Get Fire Ready.

If you happen to be out and about, come by and say hello to the crew. 👋

We’d love to have a chat, answer any questions you might have, and say g’day while you’re enjoying the market.

We look forward to seeing you there! 🚒

🏉 Kicking goals this Grand Final weekend? So are we! 🚒
As part of our preparation for the upcoming fire season, we're working to make sure fire plugs (FPs) in our area are clear & ready to use.
If you have an FP near your property, you can help by keeping the area around it clear of:
🌿 Long grass
🍂 Leaves & garden debris
🪵 Other obstacles
Please don’t attempt to open or remove the FP lid though- leave it to us as we are trained & equipped to do this safely.
An accessible FP can make a real difference when we need to connect a hydrant quickly. Thanks for helping our volunteers help your community! 🔥

🌿🔥 Spring cleaning…for fire season!
With winter behind us & the fire season not too far off, our volunteers are heading out & about to check fire plugs (FPs) throughout the local area.
FPs are the ground connections that our hydrants connect to when we’re fighting fires. Keeping them clear & accessible helps make sure that we can get the get the water flowing when it matters most. 💧
So, if you spot us out checking FPs around the neighbourhood, give us a wave! 👋
It’s all part of getting ready for the season ahead. 🚒

⚠️ AusAlert Test in Geelong ⚠️
Belmont & Highton — 2:00 pm, Thursday 18 June 2026

The Australian Government is testing AusAlert, a new national system that sends emergency warnings directly to compatible mobile devices during disasters.

At around 2:00 pm, you may hear a loud, siren‑like sound and feel your device vibrate for about 10 seconds. This is only a test — no action is needed.

If receiving a Priority Alert could affect your safety or wellbeing, visit ausalert.gov.au to learn how to turn Priority Alerts off on your device.

AusAlert officially launches in October 2026 to help keep communities safe

After the weather stopped us last time, we're having another go... Bannockburn Brigade are planning to conduct a fuel reduction and ecological burn at the Bannockburn Cemetery on Saturday 23rd May commencing around 1pm. The burn will be conducted under strict prescriptions to reduce the risk of escape. Local residents may see and experience smoke.
