Ready for cricket season! 🏏

Bathurst Sportsground is looking fantastic following several weeks of renovations and seasonal changeover works, with the playing surface in great condition for the cricket season.

Our sporting facilities bring people together, support local clubs and give our community a place to get involved, stay active and cheer on their teams.

A big thank you to our Sports Fields team for the hard work that goes into preparing and maintaining these spaces for the Bathurst community to enjoy. 👏

Congratulations to the team at Bathurst Hospital on the launch of the new Wayfinders group.
It is an initiative of the newly formed Friends of the Bathurst Hospital group and sponsored by Bathurst Daybreak Rotary Club. The Wayfinders program is team of friendly volunteers who help visitors navigate the hospital and access the services they need more easily.
Mayor Ben Fry joined the volunteers and staff from the Hospital and Bathurst Health Council at the launch.
If you're at the hospital, the volunteers are easy to spot in their blue vests and with their welcoming smiles.

Water supply update

Both Chifley and Winburndale Dams are close to capacity.
As of the 21 October, Chifley Dam is sitting at 99.5% capacity and Winburndale Dam is at 94.7%.

The Mount Panorama Punish is taking place this Sunday 🏃‍♂️

The race kicks off at 8am, then it's 60 minutes on the clock to complete one hot lap! Best of luck to all runners taking on the challenge.

Just a reminder that the Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit will be closed to traffic at the following times to conduct the race:

Sunday 25 October | 7.45am - 9.30am

Resident access will be available during the closure - residents are advised to refer to the notice provided to them. Any further enquiries should be directed to Council on 6333 6111.

Here's an update from Mayor Ben Fry about this month's Council meeting held yesterday, Wednesday 21 October 2026.

At the meeting, a number of policies and reports were considered, including:

- Development Application No. 2026/92 – Demolition of Existing Static Billboard Sign and Construction of Replacement Digital Billboard Sign
- Modification to Development Application No. 2025/261 – Farm Gate Premises and Occasional Markets
- Adoption of Draft Bathurst Region Active Transport Plan and Associated Road Design Policies
- Unsolicited Proposals Policy and Review of Land Sales Policy
- Proposed Compulsory Acquisition of Part of Lot 7318 In Dp1184639 - Hill End and Tambaroora Common
- Proposed Compulsory Acquisition of Part of Lot 250 In Dp1148187 - Mount Panorama

Councillors discussed and delivered better connections across Bathurst, fairer infrastructure contributions, smarter Council systems, strong executive recruitment, investment in our villages, and a little more colour in the countryside.
