๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ”ฅ A safer home starts with a simple visit

Across Regional South 2, our firefighters donโ€™t just respond when an emergency happens. Weโ€™re also here to help prevent one.

A Safety Visit is a free service designed to help you identify fire risks around your home and make sure youโ€™re better prepared should a fire occur.

During a visit, our firefighters can:

๐Ÿ”ด Check that your smoke alarms are installed correctly and working
๐Ÿ”ด Provide advice about where additional smoke alarms may be needed
๐Ÿ”ด Help eligible residents with the installation or replacement of smoke alarms
๐Ÿ”ด Provide personalised fire safety advice for your home
๐Ÿ”ด Discuss specialised smoke alarm options for people who are deaf or hard of hearing
๐Ÿ”ด Help you develop safer habits that could make all the difference in an emergency

Safety Visits can be particularly valuable for older residents, people living with disability, people living alone, young families, and anyone who may need a little extra assistance to stay fire safe at home.

And the best part? Itโ€™s FREE.

๐Ÿ“ Home Safety Visits are available across communities throughout Regional South 2.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Small steps can make a big difference.

Book a Safety Visit with Fire and Rescue NSW and help make your home a safer one.

โ˜Ž๏ธ Call your local fire station and leave a message if unattended.
๐Ÿ“ฑ Send us a direct message, and we will get your fire station to contact you.

Second day of RCR training done,

Crew preformed beautifully together like a well oiled machine,

Today they focused on the skills learned yesterday and tried out some new techniques,

One of the new techniques the crew learnt were how to access a patient when a vehicle is on its side, removing of the doors while using a ladder and standing on top of the car, the removal of the front windshield to gain access, removle of the roof through doing a roof side flap,

The crew were also put to work on communicating with one a other and tram work building by removing a person from the vehicle after gaining access to inside the vehicle and using the spine board,

Well done team on your efforts today and good luck for tomorrow, tomorrow is assessment day for everyone to be signed off as a Road Crash Rescue operator,

Today crew from Batlow had completed their first day of RCR,

RCR stands for Road Crash Rescue, it is a very important that the crew completes this training to be better prepared first when time comes and the crew will need to,

1. stabilise a vehicle
This makes it safer for firefighters, paramedics, police, SES and/or VRA to extract the patient from the vehicle

2. Knowing how to remove windows from the vehicle,
This makes it easier for emergency services to gain access to the patient and removes any unwanted glass in a controlled manner so the glass doesnโ€™t fly around and hit a patient or other emergency services personnel in the car with the patient,

Well done all crew, on your first day,

It is a very exciting day for crew members at 218 Batlow,

Today is the start of RCR (road crash rescue) which will be completed over 3 days,

RCR training is important peace of training for the crew, this training will help the crew know what to do and how to do it safely when there is a car accident for if we need to remove a patient from a damaged car,

Over the next 3 days the crew will take part in using a combination of hydraulic pump with hydraulic tools, woodblocks for stabilising a vehicle to render the vehicle safe to complete the task at hand without running a risk of injury to the operator and patient,

I wish the crew at 218 Batlow a safe and educational experience

Keep an eye out as for more photos and videos will be uploaded through out their training,

๐Ÿšจ HOUSE FIRE โ€“ TUMUT - 5/6/26

Shortly after 10:00pm last night, crews were paged to assist Tumut firefighters at a house fire within the Tumut township.

On arrival, firefighters from Tumut, Batlow, Gundagai and the NSW Rural Fire Service were confronted with a well-developed fire that had spread into the roof space.

Fortunately there was no body at the property at the time of the fire.

Crews worked into the early hours of the morning to contain the fire, extinguish hotspots and ensure there was no further fire spread.

Firefighters from Harden and Wagga also assisted by providing rehab and breathing apparatus support throughout the incident. NSW ambulance provided support for firefighter welfare.

A great multi-agency effort by all crews involved.

Thanks to the crew from 313 who provided the post from their FB site
