If you had $1000 to spend, how would you break this up across the services which the council are required to support.

And don’t say $1000 on Christmas bows.

Ever heard of an OBD port lock?
This tiny gadget could make a big difference when it comes to protecting your car.

An OBD (on-board diagnostic) port lock helps prevent unauthorised access to your vehicle’s OBD port - the same port offenders are now targeting to mimic keys and steal cars.

In recent weeks, Operation Trinity arrested three youth offenders who had stolen a Toyota parked at a gym. When police caught up with the trio, they threw a key reprogramming device from the car window.

This type of offending is on the rise with 1 in 5 cars are being stolen using this method. A car driven through Northland shopping centre was allegedly stolen using this technology.

While an OBD is a simple way to block access and keep your car safe, there a few more ways to protect your vehicle:
🔐 Always lock your vehicle, even at home.
🔐 Park off-street where possible.
🔐 Remove garage remotes and spare keys from the vehicle.
🔐 Consider extra anti-theft devices (there are alternatives to OBDs).
🔐 Keep valuables out of sight - or better yet, out of the car entirely.

If your car is stolen, don’t confront the offender - your safety comes first.

Report it to police on 131 444 or online at: police.vic.gov.au/police-assistance-line

If it’s happening now, always call Triple Zero (000).

Last night I attended a Community Safety Forum at Knox Arts Centre hosted by Manny Cicchiello.
It was well supported and very informative about the state of play with Crime in Knox and across Victoria.
It was positive to hear from speakers Kim Wells, state MP Rowville, Jason Woods former police officer office and detective Boronia and David Southwick Shadow minister for police and corrections.

Wantirna south is the highest crime area in Knox.

Manny is highly motived to tackle crime in Aston and has great support network to get it done.

One of the reasons I stood for council election in 2024 was to improve community safety.
I saw this increase in crime in knox over the last 3 years with customers, friends and family.

More needs to be done to stop the crime in Knox
