Only ONE WEEK to go until the Aussie Bird Count kicks off! 🐦

From 19–25 October, people across Australia will be spending 20 minutes counting the birds around them.

Whether you’re a seasoned bird lover or just enjoy spending time in nature, the Aussie Bird Count is for you. It’s easy, fun, and a great way to get to know your local birds.

Right now, one in six Australian birds faces the threat of extinction – which means every bird counts 💚

There's a hive of activity at the Rec Reserve this morning. A heap of tradies, machinery, and trucks working away. Pipes and trenches. Looks like water connections are happening at last!.. Not sure how much will be done today as it has now started raining.

SOFT PLASTIC RECYCLING DROP OFF POINTS in CARDINIA

We know many people are wondering if the soft plastics drop-off service is reliable again 🤔

🎉 The good news: new infrastructure is now in place, with multiple processing sites across Australia already handling materials – including the backlog from the previous RedCycle program.

You can confidently return your clean, dry soft plastics to participating Woolworths stores, where they’ll be turned into new products like building materials and food-grade packaging.

🤝 Together, we can keep soft plastics out of landfill and make sure they’re recovered for reuse.

🗺️ Cardinia Shire Woolworths drop off locations:
• Beaconsfield – 28 Sylvia Rd
• Emerald – 383–385 Belgrave-Gembrook Rd
• Officer (Arena) – Cnr Princes Hwy & Cardinia Rd
• Lakeside (Pakenham) – 9 Village Way
• Pakenham Marketplace – 55 Henry St

⚠️ Please remember: only soft plastics should go into these bins as contamination with other materials can make recycling more expensive and possibly too difficult to process.

Please use designated drop-off locations or dispose of them in your red lid bin ✅

Nice drop of rain recently! The golf club lakes and ponds are full and overflowing. Such a peaceful place with the sounds of running water, and a chorus of frogs and kookaburras.
