Eurobodalla Shire Council is once again hosting engaging community events as part of Children's Week celebrations.

Event Details

📍 Batehaven – Thursday 15 October, 5:30pm to 7:00pm
📍 Narooma – Monday 19 October, 5:30pm to 7:00pm
📍 Moruya – Thursday 22 October, 5:30pm to 7:00pm

Each evening will include information stalls, interactive children's activities, and the opportunity for families to explore emergency service vehicles and equipment up close.

These events aim to:

Support families to better understand their role in emergency preparedness
Build positive connections between children, families, and emergency service personnel
Reduce children's anxiety around emergencies by introducing emergency services in a friendly and supportive setting
Familiarise children with emergency vehicles, equipment, lights, and sirens through hands-on experiences

A fire is currently burning in Gippsland, Victoria. With the weather conditions expected over the coming days, smoke from this fire may be visible across parts of the NSW South Coast.

At this stage, there are no fires of concern within the Far South Coast District.

🚒Brigade Training - 13/9/26🚒

Brigades will be undertaking group training on Sunday 13th September around Bodalla Park Rest Area, Mountain Bike Park and Mitchells Ridge Road.

There will be no need to panic this is part of our brigades planned training program to ensure we are ready when needed.

Do You Really Need a Permit Right Now?

With the ongoing dry conditions across the region and no substantial rain in sight, it's worth asking the question... do you really need to be conducting pile burns right now?

Given the ongoing dry conditions, are there other options available for disposing of vegetation piles, such as mulching, chipping, or simply leaving material until conditions become safer?

Could these burns wait until after the fire season, when cooler temperatures, higher humidity and more favourable conditions reduce the risk to the community and the environment?

The safety of our communities must remain the priority, particularly while the landscape continues to dry and ongoing dry conditions remain.

🔥 Rocky Hall / Big Jack Fire – CONTAINED

The Rocky Hall / Big Jack fire has now been contained to 24 hectares.

A huge effort from firefighters from the NSW RFS and NPWS over recent days, working in challenging conditions and difficult terrain, with support from heavy dozers and aircraft.

We were also lucky enough to see some welcome rain this afternoon.

A big thank you to the local community for your patience and support while crews have been working in the area.

While the fire is contained, crews will continue to monitor and patrol the area. Please continue to stay up to date and remain aware of changing conditions.
