PLAN YOUR TRANSITION AWAY FROM DRIVING
Driving is a privilege, which brings responsibilities. One of those responsibilities is to ensure that you are capable of driving safely. All Victorian licence holders have a legal responsibility to report serious,
permanent or long-term illnesses, disability, medical conditions or injuries
to VicRoads.
The physical changes that come with age can impact how safely you drive. As you get older, it’s important to regularly assess how ageing is affecting you behind the wheel.
In some cases, conditions may be added to your licence to help you keep driving safely. For example:
🤓 Wearing corrective lenses
🌅 Driving during daylight hours only
🏘️ Driving within a set distance from home
In Victoria, older drivers do not need to pass a licence test when they reach a certain age. As a driver, the responsibility is on you to decide when to reduce or stop driving.
Ensure you stay safe on the road as you age, and ask yourself 'Am I still fit to drive?'.
