If you employ full-time, part-time, casual, apprentice or seasonal workers covered under the Portable Long Service Benefits Scheme, you are required to include them in your quarterly returns, even if they only work a few hours.

We were at the ISSA Cleaning & Hygiene Expo last week meeting with contract cleaning employers, workers and cleaning industry representatives.

There were lots of insightful questions from employers about how they can ensure their workers are aware of the Scheme, what resources they can share and how we deal with non-compliant employers.

Our Head of Enforcement, Emma Starkey, joined Erin Barlow, Director of Intelligence, Compliance and Enforcement at the Labour Hire Authority, for a panel discussion on ‘Workforce reform – what employers need to know’.

For a more streamlined reimbursements processing, make sure you include all supporting documents with your claim.

You should provide:
✅ final payslip showing hourly rate and unused long service leave hours paid at the end of employment (for end of employment claims)
✅ payslips or payroll report showing hourly rate and the total of long service leave hours to support current claim (for long service leave taken claims)
✅ bank verification document showing the organisation’s nominated account name, BSB and account details (e.g. copy of deposit slip or bank statement header)
✅ leave nomination form completed by the worker confirming they have elected to take traditional long service leave and the intended period of leave (for contract cleaning and security employers only)
