***TRAINING EVENT***
This post is about a simulated Road Crash, not an actual event.
Training last night at VICSES Bendigo, was an all in affair. Our 4th multi-agency exercise saw members of all agencies working together in a complex scene. A member of the public had a medical episode and caused a side impact with another vehicle pinning it up against a bus! Strathfieldsaye Fire Brigade were first on scene with fire suppression, followed by Ambulance Victoria, Fire Rescue Victoria Station 73 and SES Bendigo Unit. Members were required to relocate not one, but 2 vehicles to gain access to the casualty in the smaller red car. Before extricating and handing over to AV.
The night was full of lessons for all agencies, and despite the iffy weather, the large crowd in attendance as observers stayed right to the very end of proceedings. Amazing!
Huge thanks to- FRV 73 Bendigo, Strathfieldsaye CFA, AV Members who used their days off to come and learn alongside our crews, our members and the setup crew who thinks of these crazy plans.
It was also great to have the support of Lisa Chesters MP who donated her old Holden Cruz for our learning opportunity. Also great to see the guys and girls from the Huntly Fire Brigade come along and observe the night.
Biggest thanks needs to go to State Operations and the Learning and Development team from Victoria State Emergency Service for their work to help us acquire a Hyundai Palisade Hybrid, from the ANCAP test sled to use for the night, and for some additional exploration next week so we can get a greater understanding of the technology involved in making these cars.
