A majority of Kurdish organisations and parties in Sydney have come together to start an annual Newroz Festival and Cultural display.
The first event will be held at Sydney’s Hyde Park on Sunday, 29 March 3pm to celebrate Newroz, the Kurdish New Year, with a vibrant cultural event open to the public.
The celebration will bring together Kurdish Australians from across New South Wales along with friends and supporters from Sydney’s broader multicultural community. The event will feature traditional Kurdish music, folk dancing and cultural performances, offering a rare opportunity for the public to experience Kurdish culture in the heart of the city.
Kurdish New Year is celebrated annually in March to mark the arrival of spring and the new year. For Kurdish people, it is one of the most important cultural celebrations, symbolising renewal, freedom and community. The festival is celebrated by millions of people worldwide, including Kurdish communities across Australia.
