Gonneville Project Infrastructure Corridor – Community Information Session
Tuesday, 24 November | 6.30pm – 7.30pm | Lower Chittering Hall

What will be covered:
- An overview of the project and process
- Advocacy and actions taken by the Shire
- An opportunity to share information and views with the Shire and other residents.

Chalice has been invited to attend and provide further input on the Gonneville Project and proposed infrastructure corridor.

Council’s adopted position remains that Gonneville Project-associated infrastructure should not be located within the Shire of Chittering, and that alternative infrastructure and transport corridor solutions should be pursued outside the Shire.

For the latest news, including the Shire’s Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) submission, see the link in the comments.

Everyone is welcome at the information session, and there’s no need to RSVP.

Today is your final chance to submit a nomination for the Community Citizen of the Year Awards!

Across Chittering, there are individuals, groups and events making a real difference through volunteering, leadership, community service and acts of kindness.

If someone has made a positive impact on our community, now is the time to recognise them.

Don't assume someone else has already nominated them. Many deserving community members miss out because everyone thinks someone else will do it.

It only takes a few minutes to nominate.
Your nomination can help ensure someone's contribution is recognised and celebrated.

Firebreaks in action!

Today, our Fire Control Officers were conducting private property firebreak inspections when they were called to a fire on Cresthill Road, Bindoon.

Working alongside the Bindoon Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade, crews were able to achieve a positive outcome, helped by the property owner's compliance with the Firebreak Notice. Firebreaks were accessible, and overhanging vegetation had been pruned, allowing crews to quickly move along the firebreak in heavy smoke and contain the fire's edge.

While no firebreak can guarantee protection on days of extreme heat and strong winds, this incident is a great reminder that maintaining compliant firebreaks and vegetation clearances can make a real difference when every minute counts.
