🏃‍♂️ City2Surf 2026 – Supporting Riley’s Rare Fight ❤️

Michael and a team of local Fire and Rescue NSW firefighters will be taking on the 2026 City2Surf in full breathing apparatus (BA) gear to raise funds for Beat the Burn and the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation, while honouring the memory of Riley.

You can help support this incredible effort by joining us for our weekly Meat Raffle!

🚒 Fire Hydrants Save Lives! 🔥
Fire hydrants are a vital resource for firefighters when they need access to water during a fire. 🚨 It’s important to keep hydrants clear of grass, weeds, or other obstructions so they can be accessed quickly in an emergency.
📍 Do you know where your closest hydrant is?
Take a moment to look around outside and see if you can spot it! 👀 In residential areas, hydrants are typically located beside the road or footpath, usually spaced every 100 metres.

On Saturday afternoon a number of our resources attended a Structure Fire in Blackheath at the rear of the Kyah Hotel. On arrival we encountered a fully involved room attached to the larger hotel structure. Fire Rescue NSW Crews from Blackheath, Katoomba, Lawson, Mt Victoria, Lithgow West, Guilford and Zone Commander MW3 quickly got to work to suppress the fire and complete a search of the building, crews also dealt with explosions from the room. A big shout out for the support provided by Blue Mountains Police, NSW Ambulance, energy authorties and hotel management who quickly provided valuable information about the fire and confirmed all staff and occupants were accounted for. A big Team effort all round!
