Australia’s independent aged care watchdog, Natalie Siegel-Brown, has resigned from her position in a move she’s called an "impossible decision."

After less than 18 months in the role, Ms. Siegel-Brown’s departure comes after she said had "lost faith" in the government’s rollout of major aged care overhaul.

At the time, she warned that the system was "predictably bearing out serious problems in practice."

"I have never lost sight of what it takes to speak up, especially when experience tells you systems don't always listen," she said.
