💙 Happy Father’s Day! 💙

Today we hope you all celebrated the dads, stepdads, grandads and father figures who are there through the good times, the tough times, the laughs and everything in between.

And a special thought today for the dads who worked instead of celebrating. To our police firefighters, police officers, paramedics, SES, RFS, VRA and CFR volunteers, healthcare workers, defence personnel and all those dads who also headed off to work while their families celebrated

Also, a heartfelt thought for those who were missing their dad today, whose children weren’t with them, or who remembered someone special who is no longer here - we’re thinking of you too. 🕊️💙

Whether you were surrounded by family, worked a shift, enjoyed a quiet morning day at home or simply took a moment to reflect, we hope you have had a wonderful and safe Father’s Day.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads in our community but especially to our dads and father figures at Station 227 Blayney

Spring cleaning? Clearing clutter is about more than tidying. Keep hallways, doors and windows clear so everyone can get out quickly in a fire.
Take a few minutes to check your escape routes while you're cleaning.

At approximately 7:25pm last night, Fire and Rescue NSW Station 227 Blayney responded to reports of a house fire.

On arrival the crew found a single level house with smoke issuing from the roof. One crew of two got to work in breathing apparatus, to extinguish the fire, which was located in the laundry at the rear of the building. Fire was extinguished prior to it evolving into further parts of the home.

Reports were also of an unaccounted for dog which was last seen inside the home. A second crew in breathing apparatus made entry to the front of the house, with both crews locating the animal at the same moment. The dog was safe and well and was reunited with their owner. Yay!!!

Great results and a job well done by the crews.

We were assisted by Fire and Rescue NSW Station 216 Bathurst who got to work with on-scene decontamination of our crew.

Crews were also well supported by NSW Police, NSW Ambulance and Essential Energy.

No persons were injured in the fire and were not home at the time, with an extra close eye being kept on the dog.

This is a timely reminder to have working smoke alarms. If there were working smoke alarms in this incident, the result would have been far less devastating in property loss.

Please check your smoke alarms and have a home fire safety plan. If you do not have working smoke alarms, please contact your local
Fire station ASAP who can assist with this.

As you adjust your clocks this morning following the end of daylight savings, it’s also the perfect time to check your smoke alarms. Ensuring you have adequate and working smoke alarms, provides an early warning and can save lives in the event of a fire

✅ Test your smoke alarms
✅ Replace batteries if needed
✅ Ensure alarms are clean and dust-free
✅ Check the expiry date (most last around 10 years)

Need help? A Home Safety Visit can assist in helping you reduce the risk of an accidental fire in the home and safely escape in the event of a fire.
