This week, we're proud to launch Wayside Chapel's first-ever Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
For more than 60 years, Wayside has walked alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, from helping coordinate the 1965 Freedom Ride to creating spaces for connection, community and belonging. Our RAP formalises that commitment and sets out practical actions to strengthen relationships, deepen cultural understanding and build a future shaped by genuine reconciliation.
Grounded in our mission of creating a community with no 'us and them', this Reflect RAP is both a milestone and a starting point. It reflects where we've been, acknowledges where we need to grow and commits us to listening, learning and walking together.
The RAP features stunning original artwork by Matthew "Melnunnie" Brettschneider, whose piece Story of Wayside captures the love, connection and community at the heart of Wayside.
