✨🎨 YEAR 10 VISUAL ARTS | SURREALISM & MIXED MEDIA

Over the past 15 weeks, our Year 10 Visual Arts students have been working incredibly hard to create their own surrealist mixed media masks, and the results have been nothing short of amazing!

Students have explored surrealism, experimented with a range of materials and techniques, and developed some truly imaginative and unique artworks. Alongside their finished pieces, students have also written their own artwork titles and artist statements, sharing the ideas, inspiration and meaning behind their creations.

You'll have to come along to MADD Night to see these incredible artworks and read the stories behind them!

I am so incredibly proud of this class and the dedication, perseverance and creativity they have demonstrated throughout this project. It has been wonderful to watch their ideas develop and see each student bring their own unique vision to life.

Well done, Year 10! 👏✨

Our second-hand school uniform supply is running low! We now have no shorts and very few shirts in sizes small, medium and large.

This uniform helps students who arrive at school out of uniform for all sorts of reasons — from wet weather to staying at a friend's house and the occasional “the dog ate it!”

If you have any school shirts or shorts that your young people have outgrown, particularly in these sizes, please drop it off at the school office. It will get used and will be very much appreciated.

♟️ Lunchtime Chess Club – Making Moves for Mental Health!

As part of Mental Health Month, students are invited to try something new, develop their chess skills and connect with a new group of people over a friendly game of chess.

Our first lunchtime chess group met in the library on Friday and enjoyed it so much that many returned for a second session during the next break!

Everyone is welcome, whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced player. We have plenty of students willing to share their knowledge and help beginners learn the game.

Come along every Friday during Break 1 in the library!

It's a great opportunity to learn, connect and enjoy the mental health benefits of trying something new. ♟️

✨ On Monday of Week 6 Term 3, our Year 7 Geography students travelled with their teachers, Mr Johnston, Mr Aldridge, Mr Bowdidge and Ms Hitchcock to the Awabakal Nature Reserve at Dudley to put their geographical fieldwork skills into practice.

Students investigated the coastal landscape, identified native vegetation and used a range of geographical tools to collect and record data. They also examined how people have changed the area, the impacts of human activity and strategies used to manage and protect the landscape.

With clear skies, great weather and some impressive coastal views, it was a great opportunity to explore the landscapes and landforms right on our doorstep.
