🌿 Say g’day to Fred while you’re in Bourke.

Tucked beneath the Coolabah trees, just near the historic cemetery, you’ll find the final resting place and memorial of Fred Hollows, who chose Bourke as the place he wanted to be laid to rest.

It’s peaceful, beautifully simple and well worth the little trip out.

And while you’re there, why not explore a little more of our past? Take the Bourke Historic Cemetery self-guided tour and discover some of the people and stories that helped shape our town.

Say G’day to Fred, wander beneath the Coolabahs and take a walk through Bourke’s history.

đŸŽ¶ Road trip rule for this weekend: someone has to play Dolly!

With Dolly Fest happening down Narromine way, we reckon it’s the perfect excuse to add a little country to your drive through the Outback.

Tune into Outback Radio 2WEB, enjoy the road and, if you’ve scored the passenger seat, put the phone down for a bit, look out the window and soak up the country around you.

No 9 to 5 this weekend, just good tunes, good roads and a little time to unwind. 😉

Well hello, Pink Ch*****ne! 🌾

No, we haven’t cracked open a bottle early. 😂 This beautiful Callistemon ‘Pink Ch*****ne’ Bottlebrush is putting on a show in the cafĂ© grounds at the Back O’ Bourke Centre.

And it’s not alone. There’s colour everywhere around Bourke at the moment, from bottlebrush and pigface to bougainvillea, Coolabahs, Bimble Box, crepe myrtles, rosemary, button grass and plenty more.

The best bit? Pink Ch*****ne is known for being adaptable to different soils and climatic conditions.

Sounds suspiciously like a Bourkite to us... adaptable, tough and quite happy making the best of whatever the Outback throws our way! 😂🌾

Love it or hate it, in Bourke it means warmer weather, longer afternoons, river time, catching up with mates and finally getting those jobs done around the yard.

Yes, yes
 the curtains will fade. 😉

Just give us Bourke mob a couple of weeks to adjust. If we look a little grumpy, it’s probably because our stomach says lunchtime but the clock says NOT YET
 or we should’ve knocked off and apparently there’s still another hour to go. đŸ˜©đŸ˜‚

But those long Bourke afternoons? We’ll happily take those.

There’s only ONE month left to cruise aboard the Jandra in 2026, so if she’s been sitting on your Bourke bucket list, this is your sign!

Our favourite lady of the Darling will be cruising:
☀ Sunday: 2-hour cruise from 2pm
☀ Monday: 9am + 2.30pm 1-hour cruise

Already cruised with us this year? We hope you loved the Jandra just as much as we do. Haven’t yet? October’s your last chance for 2026.

🚗 Bourke bound this long weekend? Or just passing through?

The Back O’ Bourke Information Centre, Exhibition & CafĂ© will be open across the Labour Day long weekend and we’d love to welcome you.

Grab a coffee, explore the exhibition and discover what’s around town because “just passing through” can very easily turn into “maybe we’ll stay another night.” 😉

Slow down, look around and stay a tad longer.

Bourke’s showing off a little
 and honestly, we don’t blame her! 😉

Take a drive around our beautiful community and check out the colour. Vibrant reds and pinks, native yellows and whites, lush greens, a splash of sandstone and plenty of stories along the way.

It’s taken years of planting, planning, colour connections and consistency to bring it all together, and right now it’s looking pretty special.

We love it. We hope you do too. ❀

So take the long way around, slow down and have a good look. Bourke scrubs up alright!
