πŸš’πŸ”₯ THREE CALLOUTS, ONE BIG DAY! πŸ”₯πŸš’

The boys are finally on their way home from Dingo Beach after a massive day that turned into a big night! πŸ’ͺ

The day started with a couple of smaller callouts around the Delta, and just as the crew had made it back to the station, firecom were calling on the radio!! This time, we were heading south to lend a hand to our mates at Gloucester Rural Fire Brigade. πŸš’

The crew spent the night assisting with backburning operations and mopping up, helping get the fire situation under control. πŸ”₯

Great to catch up with our other mates from Heronvale RFB and Cannonvale- Cannonvalley Rural Fire Service out on the fireground! Always good to see everyone working together when the community needs us. 🀝

Three callouts, plenty of hours on the tools, and a big effort from everyone involved!

We reckon the fellas won't need much rocking to sleep when they finally get home! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜΄

This week is Get Ready Week and Queenslanders are being encouraged to prepare for extreme weather.

With a strong El Nino forecast for 2026, Queensland can expect predominantly dry conditions in the coming weeks and months.

These conditions can increase the risk of bushfire and create challenging conditions for firefighters across large parts of the state.

Get Ready Week serves as a timely reminder to make sure you and your family are prepared for whatever Queensland weather throws at you.

Take the time to review your Bushfire Survival Plan, check your emergency kit and make sure you know where to find the latest warnings and information.

Keep up to date with Get Ready Week by visiting Get Ready Queensland socials and website.

The heightened fire conditions certainly lived up to expectations on Day 1! 😬

At around 3pm, our crew was called to assist our mates from Bowen QLD Fire and Rescue at a grass fire burning alongside the Bruce Highway.

Thankfully, there were no structures under threat, but the wind was causing plenty of headaches, with the fire moving quickly and making conditions difficult for crews. πŸ’¨πŸ”₯

Our crew initially worked on the southern side of the fire using water and blowers, but with the wind continuing to push the fire, that proved unsuccessful.

So, it was time to change tactics and move into back-burning operations to help bring the fire under control.

By around 6pm, the fire was under control, followed by a solid mop-up operation before the crew finally packed up and headed home at around 8pm. πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’πŸ’ͺ

A massive effort from everyone involved, and a great job by all crews working together to get the fire under control and keep the Bruce Highway and surrounding areas safe. πŸš’πŸ”₯

Stay safe, stay alert and keep an eye on conditions.
Fire season is well and truly here. πŸš’

🚨πŸ”₯ COMMUNITY FIRE DANGER UPDATE πŸ”₯🚨

From 9:00am Friday 11 September, the Mackay/Whitsunday area will move from Bushfire Preparedness Level 2 to 3.

This increase is due to dry conditions, increasing fuel loads and strong winds expected over the coming days. Fire danger is forecast to reach Very High to Severe.

⚠️ What does this mean for our community?

πŸ”₯ Permits to Light Fire are currently suspended. Please do not light fires or conduct burning.

🌬️ Strong winds can cause fires to spread quickly and make conditions unpredictable.

πŸ“± Stay informed, stay prepared and never put yourself in danger.

If you see a fire that is unattended or threatening property, call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

πŸš’ MEET YOUR BOWEN DELTA RURAL FIRE BRIGADE OFFICERS πŸš’

Ever wondered who’s behind the uniforms when our trucks roll out into the community?

Well, these are the people who will be calling the shots, making the decisions and generally trying to keep everyone out of trouble when we get called to a job. πŸ˜‚πŸ”₯

Between them, our officers have a combined 55 YEARS of experience on the fire ground. That’s 55 years of fires, cyclones, training, callouts, questionable decisions and probably a few stories that are best left untold! πŸ»πŸ˜‚

πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’ 1st Officer – Brent Edgerton

Our longest-standing current member, Brent has been around long enough to have seen just about everything the fire ground can throw at you.

When things get serious, Brent brings the experience, leadership and calm head needed to get the job done β€” although we’re sure he’ll tell you he’s been doing it right all along! πŸ˜‚

πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’ 2nd Officer – Col Edgerton

Col has plenty of fire ground experience and is another key part of our leadership team.

Always happy to put his hand up and help when the call comes in… unless he’s in retirement mode and in his caravan πŸ˜‚

πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’ 3rd Officer – Jaiden Abbott

Jaiden brings plenty of experience, enthusiasm and commitment to the brigade.

He’s also the bloke who will do anything, anytime, for the brigade β€” sometimes before anyone has even asked him! πŸ˜‚

If there’s a job that needs doing, chances are Jaiden is already halfway through it.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’ 4th Officer & Chairman – Mitch Pohlmann

Mitch helps lead the brigade operationally while also keeping things moving behind the scenes as Chairman.

Whether it’s organising the brigade, dealing with paperwork, organising trucks, chasing people up or trying to convince everyone that his latest idea is a good one… Mitch is usually somewhere in the middle of it! πŸ˜‚

We’re proud to have this crew leading Bowen Delta Rural Fire Brigade, backed by a bloody good group of volunteers who continue to put their hands up for our community.
