Even if your plan is to leave early, the more you prepare your home, the more likely it will survive a bush fire or ember attack. A well prepared home can also be easier for you or firefighters to defend, and is less likely to put your neighbours' homes at risk. A well prepared home will also give y...

🔥The fire season in our area begins this Thursday 1 October.🔥

Owners and occupiers of land have a responsibility to take practicable steps to help prevent bush fires and minimise the risk of fire spreading from their property.

That responsibility includes maintaining your property, reducing fire hazards and taking reasonable steps to prevent fires from starting or spreading.

As a landowner or landlord, it is important to:
• Check the Fire Danger Ratings and local conditions.
• Maintain your property and reduce fire hazards.
• Ensure tenants understand local fire safety requirements.
• Prevent unlawful fire use or unsafe burning practices.
• Keep access clear for emergency services.

A small fire can quickly become a major emergency, placing lives, homes, firefighters, and neighbouring properties at risk.

Bush fire safety is everyone’s responsibility.

Taking action now helps protect your property and your community.

Visit our display at the Braidwood Big Wheels Truck Show Sat 10 October, Braidwood Showgrounds, for more information and support to help you

We'll have a variety of fire trucks for you to explore and fun activities and give aways for the kids.

Braidwood RFS will be assisting a local property owner with a large pile burn located west of Saleyards Lane and close to the Araluen Rd intersection late Tuesday afternoon. Given its location smoke and flames associated with the burn is likely to be visible from parts of the Braidwood township. Brigade members will remain on site well into the evening to ensure the burn is properly contained and will be patrolled the following day.

The brigade is down here at the Rec Ground, and we're always keen for a chat about bushfire planning and preparedness. Whether it's your bush fire survival plan, getting the property ready, or a question you've been meaning to ask - come and say g'day.

Music, bubbles and stalls from 12pm, the Black Widows take on Cooma at 1.15pm, and the Daddy Long Legs are up against Crookwell at 3pm. Find us around the ground - we'd love to see you. 🕷️🏉 Braidwood Redbacks Rugby Union

Today marks Danny King’s final day as Deputy Group Captain after three years in the role. 🚒

Danny, thank you for the leadership, dedication, and steady hand you’ve brought to the position. Group 2 is better for your service.

Beyond the role itself, Danny has been a mentor to countless firefighters coming up through the ranks. He’s the bloke who’ll always make time, share what he knows, and back you in whether you’re new on the truck or stepping into a leadership role yourself. That kind of generosity shapes a brigade for the long haul. 🙏

The good news: Danny isn’t going anywhere. He’ll continue to serve with us at Braidwood, where he’s already clocked up more than half a century as a volunteer firefighter. Fifty years on the trucks is an extraordinary contribution that few will ever match.

From all of us at Braidwood: thank you, Danny. We’re lucky to still have you alongside us. 🧡
