π₯ BUSH FIRE DANGER PERIOD STARTS TODAY π
The Bush Fire Danger Period is now in place across the Snowy Monaro LGA and will continue until 31 March 2027.
From today, Fire Permits are required for fires in the open, with limited exemptions such as certain cooking and small recreational fires.
π Need a permit?
Our Captain and Permit Officer, Daniel Perrin, can be contacted on 0433 046 202.
Before lighting up:
π₯ Make sure your permit is in place
π£ Notify the NSW RFS and adjoining neighbours at least 24 hours before burning
π¦οΈ Check the weather and Fire Danger Rating
π± Keep Hazards Near Me handy
π Have firefighting equipment ready and supervise your fire at all times
With dry conditions around the district, everyone can also help reduce the chance of an accidental ignition:
βοΈ Avoid welding, grinding, mowing or slashing during hotter, windier conditions
π Take care driving through dry grass
πΏ Keep dry grass and debris from building up around vehicles, mowers and machinery
π§ Make sure cooking and recreational fires are completely extinguished before leaving them
If a fire gets out of control, call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
Prepare early. Stay informed. Use fire safely. π₯π
