Our Year 5 and 6 STEM Excellence Program continues to provide students with exciting opportunities to explore technology through coding and robotics. Each week, students engage in hands-on learning experiences that challenge them to think critically, solve problems creatively and work collaboratively. Currently, students are designing and programming robots to play soccer, applying their coding skills in a fun and highly engaging way. It has been fantastic to see the innovation, teamwork and enthusiasm displayed as students bring their robotic creations to life.

Recently a group of our promising Year 3 writers had the exciting opportunity to participate in a writing workshop with acclaimed author Yvonne Mes. Students were inspired as they explored the creative writing process, developed their storytelling skills and learnt firsthand what it takes to bring ideas to life through words. It was wonderful to see our young authors so engaged, asking thoughtful questions and embracing the joy of writing. Experiences like these continue to inspire a love of literacy and nurture the incredible talent growing within our school

Today our Environment Captains had the incredible opportunity to attend EcoMarines Day at Tangalooma Island Resort. Throughout the day, students engaged in a range of hands-on environmental learning experiences focused on sustainability, marine conservation and protecting our natural environment.

This exciting experience allowed our student leaders to connect with like-minded schools, deepen their understanding of environmental responsibility and develop ideas they can bring back to our school community. We are incredibly proud of the way our Environment Captains represented Brighton State School and the enthusiasm they showed in becoming future leaders for a more sustainable world.

A huge thank you to our incredible P&C for the wonderful Mother’s Day event held this morning. The time, effort and care that goes into creating opportunities like this for our community is so greatly appreciated. We are incredibly grateful for the kind donations to support this event from Tim through Ridgey Didge and Wallum Nurseries, to Carla for the incredible flower arrangements and to YMCA for providing the coffee van.

To all of the amazing mums, carers and mother figures in our Brighton community, thank you for everything you do for our children each and every day. The impact you have on their lives, and on all of us as a school community, is immeasurable. While today’s celebration is only a small gesture, we hope it served as a reminder of just how valued and appreciated you are.

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Brighton State School!
